Most people neglect the health of animals forgetting that they are also living thing and can feel bad, discomfort and disease.
This post is to learn about common diseases in pets/livestock and how to prevent them.It also talks about the importance of animal vaccination and the correct way to vaccinate.
Common diseases in pets and how to prevent them

Pets are animals that have been domesticated and can cohabit with humans. Common examples are cat, dogs, birds, etc
Examples of common diseases found in pets are
•Rabies: Rabies is a viral disease that affects the nervous system of pets like dogs and are fatal if not treated
Kennel Cough: Caused by bacteria (Bordetella bacterium) that affects the respiratory system
•Skin infection: Bacterial or fungi can affect the skin of these pets leading to skin infection.
•Atopic Dermatitis: It is a skin condition that causes itching, redness and inflammation
These diseases can be prevented through
•Regular Vaccination
•Adequate Nutrition
•Provide clean and sage environment
•Parasite Control: Use chemicals that control parasites like flea, tick, worms to reduce the risk of parasite infestation
Common diseases in livestock and how to prevent them.
•Foot and Mouth Disease: This is a common viral disease found in cattle. As the name implies, it affects the foot and the mouth. It can lead to lameness and reduce production of milk
•Mastitis: It is a bacterial disease that affects the udder causing painful sucking and reduce milk production
•Avian Influenza: It is a viral diseases that affects the respiratory system of birds causing fever, coughing and reduced appetite
•NewCastle Disease: It affects the respiratory and nervous system of birds. Can lead to reduced egg production. It can lead to death if not treated
How to prevent these diseases
•Vaccination
•Adequate Nutrition
•Control of Parasite
•Regular Health Check-up
•Clean and Parasite free animal shelter
The importance of animal vaccination and the correct way to vaccinate.
Animal vaccination is the process of administering vaccine to an animal in other to help it fight disease. Animal vaccination is beneficial because it helps in;
•Prevention of diseases
•Protection of Human health: Vaccination helps to prevent the transmission of diseases from animals to human(zoonotic disease) examples are rabies
•Improve animal health
•Helps in reducing economic losses due to outbreak of diseases, animal productivity etc
•Reduce the risk of food borne diseases gotten from consumption of animal and animal produce
•Improve Public health
How to vaccinate correctly
Here are step by step guard on how go vaccinate correctly
•Consult a veterinarian
•Choose the right vaccine suitable for the specific disease
•Identify the correct injection site
•Prepare the animal by making sure the animal is calm and restrained
•Administer the vaccine according to manufacturer's instructions; give at the correct site, correct dose
•Monitor the animal for behavior change
•Record the vaccination
•Monitor for side effect
•Provide follow up care
