In the area around where I live, there's a frequent presence of stray cats, each with their own unique colors and sizes. They are extremely wary and sometimes even aggressive towards humans, often disappearing quickly before I can get close. I usually carry a small bag of cat food in my pocket, and whenever I see a stray cat, I place the food where it was just sitting before quietly leaving the scene. They always come back to eat when I'm gone. I often wonder why there are so many stray cats around. Perhaps they were abandoned by their previous owners, or maybe they are the offspring of those discarded cats.
I have a dog at home that I take out for a walk every evening. We have three set routes, one of which leads to a small woods. It was on this route that we encountered it—a tiny Ragdoll cat. It looked very clean, small, and was crouching in the shadow of a car, its little paws playfully pawing at the fallen leaves on the roadside. As we approached, it slowly retreated under the car. My boyfriend noticed and exclaimed in surprise, "Is it eating leaves? Or catching bugs?" Unfortunately, I had run out of food in my pocket that day. My boyfriend urged me to continue walking the dog, promising to bring food the next day.
After walking a few steps, I asked him, "Do cats eat leaves and bugs?" He shook his head, unsure. I couldn't move forward, so I asked him to go to a nearby supermarket to buy some food while I went back to check on the cat. As I walked back, the cat indeed emerged from under the car and continued to paw at the leaves. It didn't react at all as I approached. I gently touched its head, silently chanting "don't scratch me, don't scratch me, don't scratch me," and then I watched as it... lay on the ground, exposing its belly!!!
To be continued...
(It's getting late here, I'll continue sharing my story tomorrow. Goodnight everyone!)
