In Med school, I read that everyone remembers exactly the moment they were given a terrible news. The smells, lighting of the room, background noise, the familiar touch on the hand, faces around them- these things get etched into one’s memory. We visit this memory more frequently than we would like to.
Since that day I have tried to make this moment in time as little frightening as possible for my cancer-stricken patients and everyday I pray I am doing MY best.
Love and respect we feel for everyone that walks into our lives as we try to make the worst day for some of our patients suck a little less than it is meant to. We hope to provide the confidence and belief to our patients that You got this or better yet- We Got This!
(Yes, this week was tough for the team as we had this sit down more number of times than we like to)
