Goodmorning wonderful people of steemit family, I was actually writing my semester exams, hope y'all are doing great? ...
Do microorganisms truly stay in our mouth? Yes micro organisms truly exist in our mouth and they multiply there.
These micro organisms enter our mouth through the nose, mouth, eyes, wounds on our skin e.tc
These microorganisms are in the water we drink and food we eat, they are too microscopic to be seen with the naked eyes except with the use of electron microscope. We swallow a lot of bacteria when we take a glass of water even when we filter the water, it might get contaminated with the microorganisms in the air before drinking it.
Microorganisms can enter our mouth when we stay close to a person coughing or sneezing, the droplets containing millions of microorganisms enters our body through the nose, mouth or eyes that is why it is always advisable to cough into a handkerchief.
Bacteria organisms can enter our mouth through mouth to mouth kissing espcially when the two parties have not brush we the in the morning because we do not know the millions of microorganisms that dwell in the other person's mouth and it's transferred into the other person's mouth.
Some of the mosquitoes that usually bite at night introduce microorganisms inside the body their victims.
Micro organisms also enters our body during respiration because the air contains millions of micro organisms hovering around.
Practically microorganisms was observed to be present in our mouth by coughing or sneezing into a sterile plate containing potato dextrose agar, covered and incubated for 48 hours. The potato is a source of nutrient that the microorganisms will feed on in order to grow. There were growth of different types of colonies in the plate after 48hrs. This signifies that different microorganisms dwell in the mouth, some are normal Flora.Source
Some common microorganisms in our mouth which are mostly Anerobic bacteria ( they don't require oxygen to grow) includes leptotrichia, peptococcus, selemonas, Arachnia, veillonella, Treponema, fusobacterium and many others.
Kissing in the early hours of the morning is not healthy especially without brushing because when we wake up in the morning, touching our teeth with our tongue, we feel a rough like coating on the teeth. Those things are bacteria species that feed on the sugar from our previous meal in the mouth thereby forming acid on the teeth, that is why is always advised to brush twice in a day,in the morning and at night to reduce these microorganisms present in our teeth .
Sometimes we do wonder, what really causes the medical problem of holes on the teeth. These holes are caused by microorganisms forming acid on the teeth after feeding on the food we ate. The acids gradually melts the teeth thereby causing hole on the teeth. We can experiment this physically by putting one of our uprooted teeth into a bottle of coke and leaving it for days. The coke here acts as acid. The tooth melt after some days and that is the same thing the acids produced by microorganisms does on our teeth thereby causing holes.
We reduce these bacteria on our teeth by reducing the sugar intake because bacteria feeds more on sugary food. We should always eat more of nutritious food rich in calcium. Daily brushing of teeth twice and mouth wash disrupt the biofilm formed by bacteria species on our teeth because the fluorine present in the paste reduce the number of microorganisms on the teeth. We should also avoid rinsing our mouth after brushing so that the fluoride in the paste can do its work bfor been rinsed off
