Yeah. I am lecturer in Mechanical Engineering. Lecturing is my profession and engineering is my passion. So I will explain my working diary as a person who enjoys by performing his passion!
The reason why I joined mechanical engineering is, I love machines. I love mechanisms in machines. I love smell coming from machines. So here onward I will explain my daily routine as a Lathe Machine Operator (Part Time ;) )
Lathe is a electrically powered machine, which is used for metal turning and material removing operations. I have over 5 year experience in turning, tapering, threading, boring and other related lathe operations.
During my undergraduate time, I was lucky enough to familiarize lathe operations and specially safety precautions. Those things were really helpful during my career and I believe that my willingness and tremendous effort were the reasons where now I am.
During a normal working day I do several mandatory tasks as followings.
- Check the lathe machine (visual inspection) for any faults
- Clean the working area
- Collect work pieces and arrange
- Go through drawings and job cards
5.Start the machine and carryout the job - Maintain the log
- Quality check
- Clean the machine and workplace
The number of total working hours depend on the work load that I am having ion that day and normally it is around 8 hours. And specially I would like to work with others and love to have co workers or trainers, then I can share my knowledge and I could help them to improve their skills.
So this is my normal working day as a lathe operator. Things are so much different as a lecturer. Hope I will get some free time to explore my working diary as a lecturer soon.
Cheers!
