SEC - S9W6: " My Biggest Challenge "

in hive-141434 •  2 years ago

Hello everyone, it is good to be here again this week. I hope you are having a beautiful week. Today, I will be submitting my entry for this week's engagement challenge, titled "My Biggest Challenge". In one way or the other, we have had one challenge or another. In my country, there is a saying that "problem no dey finish" meaning, there is always a problem to be solved and while some people's difficult challenges might look small to others, they are surely big for the person passing through those challenges at the time. Let me share my biggest challenge with you.

What has been your biggest challenge?

It was my final year in school, and my dad was having a serious financial constraint. My school fees were due to be paid, My rent had expired and I needed it to be renewed, I was hungry, and I needed money to start my final year project. Before this time, I always turned to my dad for every financial support I needed, and as a good father, he was always available at any time I needed him. I remembered that in my first year, he paid my fees very early, gave me enough money as pocket money, and moreover, there was no final year project work or defense. All I had to do within my first two years was to go to lectures, read my books, and pass my exams. I didn't lack anything that a parent should provide for their kids but this was going to change.

My dad had a financial constraint and even if he wanted to pay for my final year program, there was no way he was going to pay. I starved a lot during this period but then I still had to read very hard and hope for the best. My rent was due first and I didn't have a way to pay, I was hoping and just doing my thing when my school fee started to reach its closing date. It was at that time I had to prepare for exams and start working on my final-year project work. It was at this point that it was done to me that I had to grow up. I had to take responsibility for myself at least at the moment else, I was going to have an extra year. My landlord wasn't making it easy for me in any way at all, he was really concerned about his money and didn't mind asking me to evacuate his apartment.

Tell us how did you get over it?

I began to think a lot. I didn't know of any way to make money and I was losing it already as things became more complicated than I thought it would be. I started to grow lean as I was worried. I made several calls home but there was no positive response, as it was even difficult to eat at home so I began to look at how I was going to get out of the problem and get out of it as quickly as possible because my mental health was being affected.

One day, I was sitting at the school pavilion when someone was saying she didn't know how to write her project work and was willing to pay if found someone, I didn't know when I immediately told her I could do it, even when I haven't done such before. When we discussed it, she told me she had other friends and people who were looking for help with their project typing. I was willing to do this than stay broke and hungry, so I told her to please introduce me to them. I spent the next 3 months with little sleep as I had to meet up with the submission time for both theirs and mine but I was happy to do it because the money I received was used to pay for my school fees and my project work. Soon I saw a lady on Facebook who was looking for a writer and was going to pay the freelancer hourly but the job was going to last for 2 months. I contacted her and told her I could do the job, she was very skeptical about my skills and ability to deliver, and I was willing to convince her that I was the best person for the job because I needed the money. I was able to use the money from the freelance job to pay for my rent and I saved a lot. After the job, I spent the remaining part of school life doing freelancing, and helping people type their project works for them. This gave me a decent source of income.

What advice can you give us from your experience?

From my experience, one thing I would say is "Never Give up, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel". My tunnel was dark for me because it could cause me to have an extra year in school. I was very devastated that I wanted to drop out of school. I was very helpless but one thing I had was HOPE. I am not someone who gives up easily, I am a hard nut to crack, so I was positive in all that I was going to get a solution, and it came. You should learn to hold on tight no matter the circumstance and be willing to put in the effort if it ever comes to a time when you have to.

This said, I have come to the end of my post, and I will like to invite @preye2, @inspiracion, @simonnwigwe, and @pelon53

Hola @thomisin, que bueno que esa fue la forma más increíble que te ayudó a resolver el problema financiero para cubrir tus necesidades. Un trabajo que creo que te ha permitido tener también más conocimiento en tus estudios.

Hello dear friend @thomisin

I must acknowledge that I felt very satisfied reading your story, it is indeed a great one.

When I look at your story it kind of relates to mine as well, suffered a lot with house rents and feeding especially when I moved out and was independent.

But you know what friend? I can say the greatest people today have amazing struggling stories like you and I, so I'm grateful to God because there is always light in the end of every darkness.

Stay strong champ! because if not of the Challenges you went through you would not have thought of thinking of how to make money.

Challenges comes to make us leave our confort zones and think out of the box.

Nice meeting you and hearing your story my friend. i wish you all the very best in this contest. Best regards @newtonb

It's good to hear from you @newtonb. It was a very stressful period. I had to manage everything I have, I had to think fast and innovate at once, so I had to begin doing legal things to make money and solve my problem.

It was indeed pleasant to have you here.

You are welcome.

I am sorry to hear about the difficult situation you are in. It can be challenging when financial constraints arise, especially at key times like your final year at school. It's normal to feel overwhelmed and worried about the expenses you have to bear.

It was bizarre. I could not sleep at night at those times. I was very worried, thinking of how to get a better life for myself. I was happy I was able to do this and I was happy things worked out fine. Seizing opportunity has been my watchword since then.

@thomisin It seems that he is going through a difficult period where he cannot sleep at night because he is worried about his future and wants a better life. However, you were able to overcome the difficulties and you are happy that in the end things turned out well for you. From then on, you embraced the idea of seizing opportunity as a guiding principle in your life. Best wishes 🙏
