I feel sorry for all the newborn.
I feel sorry for all the elderly locked inside with the heat.
I feel sorry for the convicts fighting the fires on the front lines.
I can barely help my family and myself. I wish I could do more for the people I see suffering around me.
All of this sorrow fills my heart and chills my bones.
I need to convert it into something good.
I need to make sure the world after me is better than than the world I inherited.
I owe that to the people who made me, for they filled me with love and light and laughter. I smiled so much growing up I had happy wrinkles next to my eyes before I could drive.
The people who come after me, I'm going to try to make this campsite cleaner than when I found it.
That is my promise to you.
