... COVID-19 worse? Here’s my take. .
I’ve come up with a summary to some lengthy articles written from each perspective to give ya guys the details and break down what it all means -

But so here’s the thing- I totally see both sides of this argument. I’m definitely leaning a little more towards argument B though. So let me give you guys the info for both and you can come to your own conclusion.

➡️Argument A- .
Elderberry could create a cytokine storm and cause the immune system to over react, attack itself and make COVID-19 symptoms more severe. . -Elderberry is very strong, and while it’s acknowledged as excellent and medically sound as an anti viral such as for the flu and respiratory issues, the worry is that elderberry syrup with this particular virus could cause the immune system to over react. Elderberry increases your cytokine response, and with COVID-19 in general we are already seeing a lot of cytokine damage in the more severe cases. For this reason, many herbalists and naturopathic doctors who normally swear by elderberry are stressing to NOT use it during this time. The virus hasn’t been around long enough to have any solid evidence to support this. .
➡️Argument B - .
Elderberry REGULATES the immune system, it does not make it “over react”. We know that in the case of a cytokine storm, it’s not just a problem of immune system over reaction but more of a problem of immune system under reaction. Elderberry can most definitely prevent COVID-19 symptoms from becoming severe. .
In the case of a cytokine storm, the immune system is working over time to create inflammation. The part of the immune system that’s supposed to regulate and bring everything back into equilibrium is not being activated enough. Inflammation is not always bad.. inflammation is our bodies response to when somethings wrong. It’s part of our healing process. The problem is when the immune system is unable to regulate that inflammation. Poor diet=lack of antioxidants which keep free radicals in check. Free radicals are unstable molecules that do cellular damage.
