... ultimate secret to productivity is to do one hour of work right after you wake up. If you don't have an hour to spare in the morning, wake up one hour earlier than you usually do. Voila! Now you have time for a morning power hour.
The morning power hour is a powerful tool to increase your productivity, if you use it wisely. To get the most out of your morning power hour, do the one task that you hate doing the most or the one task that is most difficult to do. For example, replying to emails is probably not a good task to do in your morning power hour. Replying to emails is not very mentally taxing and should be saved for later on the day when your mind's energy is winding down.
When you complete the most arduous task first, your whole day changes. Suddenly, you feel accomplished at 6:00, 7:00, or 8:00 am. A feeling that few people have that early. This sense of accomplishment will carry over the rest of your day. You will be ready to tackle even more when you get to the office. The confidence that the morning power hour produces is almost as valuable as the output of work that it produces.
Another reason? First, your mind is freshest in the morning. It has just been revitalized by a good night's sleep. Second, it is one of the most quiet times of the day. There is usually very little noise in the morning and you can really concentrate on the task at hand. Third, there are usually few distractions from social media or text messages. Avoid checking your phone until after your morning power hour. You will find that you haven't missed anything because most of the world is not awake yet. And sometimes when your eyes are not on your cell phone's display you can catch the beauty of a rainbow. 🌈 😉
