A bowl of mulberry refreshes my childhood memories, on the Srinagar Baramulla National Highway, their seasonal vendors sell cherries, corn, apricots and other fruits. We enjoyed roadside corn and mulberry.
Bowl of ripe mulberries
Mulberries are sweet, nutritious and juicy. I was fond of mulberries in childhood. I would go with friends in the evening and come back with a smear of black mulberry juice all over my face and hands. Getting black stains is the only demerit of Mulberries. At our place, white and black mulberries can be found, but there are a lot of other varieties.
Today, when I look at the places where I would go for having fresh mulberry, there are only few trees standing. Cutting mulberry trees without permission is illegal in India, yet these trees diminish day by day. Leaves of the mulberry tree are food for silkworms.

On National Highway, near Pattan Baramulla there is a mulberry nursery and children pluck mulberry and sell them to commuters on roadsides. We stopped to have some and enjoyed them a lot. My childhood memories refreshed, I free nostalgic; I want to climb a mulberry tree and munch juicy mulberries, regardless of what they would do to my face.
