The asante culture is a mixture of supernatural powers of the ancestors and spirit in trees and animals that owe allegiance to and celebrate them annually.
The Asante people is a subset of the Akan ethnic group in Ghana .
The asante people speak the twi language.
In the Asante culture they celebrate a few festivals which is the adae,adae kese , akwasidae ,Asante yam and the awukudae .
The Adae festival is celebrated by the asantes to give rememberance and reverence to the ancestors for for the noble course they did for their people. It is a symbol of statehood and victory over the Denkyira's which was called the ashanti independence war .This celebration brings together people of all walks of life from far and near and other subchiefs to Manhyia palace were the asantehene lives,the Paramount chief of the asantes.To display the rich and vibrant culture and heritage of the asante ethnic group.And also bring unity among the asante ethnic group as they said it is that unity that made them win the war.
This festival is celebrated every 42 days of the Sunday and Wednesday .
Which is why we have akwasidae and awukudae .

Customs and tradition
The asante people perform puberty rites for every Young in the asante kingdom to initiate them in adulthood . The main reason for this is to promote chastity before marriage .The young girls are educated by an elderly woman about how a woman can take care herself and her husband. They also taught personal hygiene and other things.
The asantes practice the matrilineal system of inheritance .This means that only those from the mother side has the right inherite the properties of the deceased person.
In the Asante kingdom the Queen has the high authority. The Queen mother has the power to enstool or distool a chief.Among the Asantes if they remove you sandals you are not longer a chief.

Traditional foods
Even though there are other delicacies like ampesie ,eto and mpontonpoto the favourite food of the asantes is the fufu and soup .This prepared using plantain and cassav pounded together .

Taboos and laws

The asantes do not go to farm on Wednesdays as it is regarded as resting for the people and allow the ancestors to walk around the community.
In the asante kingdom it is not allowed to have sex in the Bush is it considered to bad omen to the land .
Costumes
The costumes of the asantes is the kente.During occasions the men wrap kente across their shoulders and the tie around their waste and their chest.
