TOUCH

To come in contact with or to make physical contact with, voluntary or involuntary either with the hand or any other part of the body.

Touch could mean to feel or mostly involuntary contact with a surface.

SENSATION

This is the conscious or subconscious awareness if changes in the external or internal environment.

  • Perception :

This is the awareness and interpretation of sensation and its primarily a function of the brain.😃

SENSORY SYSTEM

It is a functional system of cells or neurons which enables perception of external or internal environment changes.

MECHANISM OF TOUCH

Whenever, there is a contact in the body here is the overall activities that occur

  • Mechanoreceptors, nociceptors(temperature, touch and pain receptors respectively) on the surface of the skin takes the touch sensed or felt to the Spinal Cord.👌

  • These information reaches the spinal cord and is carried duly to the brainstem through pathways,...either laterally or medially✌

  • From the brainstem it reaches the cerebrum in the brain which is the seat of intelligence.👏

  • The brain sends responds and if is a pricking pain, like needle prick....There is a sharp withdrawal reflex...to move away from the pain😄.

Salient Point
  • Sensation is very important in the body. It makes someone sense danger, and enhance the "fight and flight" reflex to run away from danger.
  • Sensation is very vital in temperature, feeling when to leave an environment due to heat or get suited up due to cold.
  • Lets not forget sense of smell too, it is very vital to perceive danger such as smokers around the block, teargas, and other harmful hazards around.

My next post would be damage to these parts and the effects
