INTRODUCTION
Hello dear friends on steemit. I am delighted to parttake in this contest organized by @bright-obias in Steem Nursery community.
Hobby is something I enjoy doing regularly. It is something that gives me so much joy and satisfaction. Ladies and gentlemen,I present to steemians my hobby and my hobby is playing Basketball.
Basketball is one of the most popular sports in the world and one of the most widely viewed. Basketball is a team sport that involves two teams of five active players each trying to score points against one another by throwing a ball through a 300 cm (10 feet) high hoop (the basket)under organised rules. Basketball is played on both indoor and outdoor courts.
The size of the basketball court, height of the basket, size of the basketball, and length of time that the game is played is dependent and can vary according to the age, size and skill level of players.
Basketball has always been a big part of my life, whether it be from watching or playing the game. I started playing basketball when I was in Junior secondary School 3(High school 3) in my school under a man or coach called Mr Victor who was the physical and sport education teacher.
Before Mr Victor introduced basketball in my school,I was so engrossed with football. I played all kinds of football, including the street football, I discussed so much about football and I watched football clubs playing especially in the champions league and lastly, I also read sports newspaper to get updates from the world of football. After basketball was introduced to my, the love for football shifted to basketball. I learnt how to play basketball until I was better and I was selected as one of the players that represented my school in a Milo competition that was held in Calabar, Cross River State.
sincerely speaking,I was never very good at basketball, but I liked the sport and I enjoyed playing the game because it has always been a very good stress relief.
I learnt the basics and fundamentals of basketball. They are: how to the bounce the ball, how to shoot the ball and make a basket like perimeter shot,3-points shooting, free throws which is one point,lay-up etc.
Another reason I love the game of basketball is because of my Teachers and my school principal. They encouraged me to keep playing basketball and continue to grow into been a better player. As part of the of the encouragement,the school management provided a basketball and the basketball court. Here, there was a hightened desire, passion and love for basketball. After two years of consistent training,I was selected by the then head coach of Cross River State basketball team to repent Cross River State in the inter-state Milo competition in Asaba,Delta State in the year 2012. This year has remained a remarkable and unforgettable year. I made new friends in that competition which is the beauty of the game; always making new friends anywhere one finds his or herself.
Because of the constant love for the game,I watched NBA games and I knew so much about NBA including the NBA players like LeBron James who was a former player in Miami Heat but he currently plays for Lakers and Stef Curry who is a player in Golden State warriors.
