UNCHARTED

Uncharted is a simple safe but ultimately really effective introduction to treasure hunter Nathan Drake (played by Tom Holland). Playstation users might be surprised of how the uncharted games was turned into a really interesting movie.

For an original story, uncharted ironically doesn't waste any time explaining the back stories of any of the characters, we are immediately thrown into the exploits of cocky young thief Nathan Drake and a treasure hunter Victor sully sullivan played by mark wahlberg. In the film, smart Nathan Drake is required by sully to recover a fortune amassrd by Ferdinand Magellan and was lost 500 years ago by house of Mcadam. The quest also finds nate tracking clues that's lead to his long lost brother Sam.

Nate is a bartender with a talent of pick pocketing, sully wants names help with the quest that involves tracking down the lost gold from the voyages of Magill an. Sully former ally was Nathan's long lost brother Sam and he believes that he sent nate clues about the treasures location in form of postcards. Nate is reluctant at first by the pool to reunite b with his brother is strong do he agrees. It doesn't take long for nate and sully to finally meet chloe, an energetic addition played by Sophia Ali.
As a fan of the games the biggest question I had was if Tom Holland could play the character of Nathan Drake which is a slightly younger version of the we know, and the answer was yes. That guy is as charismatic as ever. Wahlberg also did A very great job by playing as
a wise cracking mentor to Holland. Although some of the things that made sully to be recognized didn't survive in the transition to the movie. Sully is iconic at least in this part because of his bark booming voice which Wahlberg doesn't have.

The cat and mouse scene doesn't take itself too seriously which is what I'll exactly expect from a movie based on uncharted games. Technically If this was a 2 hour video game cutscene, I never felt like I wanted to press the skip button. Nate, sully and chloe gets into their fair share of fight chase scenes and booby traps as they go about collecting clues, solving puzzles and traveling the world. The movie is really straightforward because there were many fun reminders that I was watching an uncharted movie.! For example very early on, nate bumps into fellow treasure hunter moncada Antonio Banners and the way they exchanged quips was in a cartoons way. These type of scenes are usually fun for casual watchers but for those who are familiar with the games but it is a loving recreation of defining traits we know and love the most about Nathan.

When it comes to villains the ones here are an mostly forgettable, their story lines are one-dimensional and any motives for seeking the big treasure beyond simple greed are unclear. In a way though it's oddly fitting because while the uncharted games have featured many antagonists the real evil has always been about what greed can do to people that theme is present throughout the movie and that's good enough for me.
My favourite scene in uncharted was when nate and sully where in a pirate cave while being attacked by henchmen. It's not until the end that we truly see the motive lean into its video game counterpart with Tom Holland running, jumping and narrowly escaping death moments.

IN CONCLUSION

Uncharted is a really good adventure that benefits from Hollands charm no matter how the plot may be. Uncharted is as safe but serviceable sampling of a replacement globe spanning adventure. This could be effective in introducing the world of uncharted to people who are meeting nate and friends for the first time.
