Mangrove avicenia nursery

For the nursery activity of mangrove avicenia, the group takes up to three months until the time when the seedlings can be harvested and planted in the planned location, namely on the beach with a muddy sandy soil texture.

This nursery activity was carried out by a group of people from the village of Layen, Aceh Besar to protect Teluk lhok Seudu from abrasion and to restore lost ecosystems in the area.
According to the story of the people of Layeun village, their area used to be a very good mangrove ecosystem area with various types of mangroves including Rhyzipora mukronata mangroves, stylosa, avicenia and many other types of mangrove families that also live here, but because of the 2004 tsunami disaster it destroyed the area.
