"Vesak" the day of the full moon in the month of May,is the most sacred day to millions of Buddhists around the world.it is one of the oldest religion in the world as well as most close religion to the nature.BUddhist around the world follow the teaching of the BUdda and on the Day of vesak commemorate the brith,the attainment of enlightenment and the passing away of the Buddha.
In sri lankan Buddhists go their temple and even stay there throughout the day and night of the full moon.many will do good deeds, take part in chanting and meditation,bring offerings to the temple and share food with people.but these days unfortunately the covid 19 pandemic has radically our life,however people celibrate"the vesak day"in their homes with vesak lanterns,wear special white to make the occasion.also send vesak cards to each othres.
Every wesak days our family made vesak lanterns use with traditional "bamboo".in this time we made a"atapattama" shaped lanterns.now will,see what we need for prepare. *25 sticks of bamboo we need that are of the same length. *Either 1 light candle or a light bulb *scissor *a bendy wire for tying *Tissue papers of various colours. *wire for hanging.
