How is everyone in the community? I wish everyone well. I haven't had any contact with you for a long time, so I tried to communicate a little bit and sat down to write about something new. Today I will introduce a plant to you, Which we know as the curry plant.
During the trip to India, their traditional food was tested, that's why I understood the curry leaf test. I like it. So I planted curry plants in my garden. We Bangladeshis are not so familiar with this tree but it is very popular all over India, especially in South India. It is called curry leaf and the leaves of the curry plant are used for cooking. This tree is also called sweet neem but this tree has nothing in common with the neem tree.
Family-Rutaceae
The scientific name is Murraya koenigii L.
Description:
The curry plant is commonly grown in tropical Asian countries. The tree can grow up to two feet tall. The leaves of the plant are aromatic and edible parts. The dark green leaves have a pungent taste and distinct smell. The plant is self-pollinating and bears small white flowers. Fruits are small dark purple berries. The fruit pulp is sweet tasting and edible.
Usage:
Generally, fresh leaves of the plant are used for cooking. The leaves are fried in hot oil with mustard which is called tadka. Tarka is added to any chutney, sambar, soup, gravy fish, and chicken curry. This Herb plant has Ayurvedic and medicinal importance. Oil is made from the seeds of this plant. But the seeds cannot be eaten, they are toxic to us.

Nutritionally, curry leaves are rich in Carotenoids, Beta-carotene, Calcium, and Iron. Besides, various chemicals are found in the bark, stems, and seeds of the curry plant. Besides, various vitamins and minerals such as vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C, Fiber, Phosphorus, and Folic acid are available which are essential for the body.
Benefits of health:
Curry leaves contain plant compounds rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants keep our bodies healthy and protect us from many diseases. Curry leaves reduce our risk of cancer. Curry leaves lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Curry leaves are rich in fiber which slows down the digestive process and lowers blood glucose levels. Its Removes harmful toxins from our bodies, Helps in weight loss, and has antiseptic properties that heal body wounds. Besides, it is beneficial for hair and skin.
