Preparing canvases with my little neighbor

Hello, good to be here once again. I hope y’all are staying safe. Today I’d like to share my progress on a big body of work I’m about to release soon, the canvas preparation part.

Canvas preparation is one of the less creative but tasking aspects of making art. It involves many stages that have to be done with care and efficiency.

My little neighbor Isaac joined in the process though it was all fun for him 😁

Firstly the wooden stretchers have to be made neatly, it is easy to spot absurdities in the final piece. Canvas selection is important too, you can either go with unprimed canvas which you will have to prime yourself or get pre primed canvas. It should be very fine cotton material.

It is cheaper to make your own canvas on a large scale, if not, just grabbing a few from the store will save you all the hassle

The actual stretching is the hardest part, it has to be done very tightly or it will really affect the painting process. It requires some strength and skill too.
