Initially, Bunta Island was a residential area. However, the island was abandoned by its inhabitants after being swept away by the tsunami storm at the end of 2004. This island is able to represent the face of the archipelago, an archipelago country.
Bunta Island is included in the administrative area of Peukan Bada District, Aceh Besar District. After its inhabitants were abandoned, the island was turned into a garden by land owners who then moved to the city of Banda Aceh. Coconut, which is a typical tropical forest plant, is the largest population. While the land itself is surrounded by rocky beaches with mirror-clear water.
