Finally a contest I will joyfully do.
it's been an interesting year this 2024 and a whole bunch of blockbusters have already been introduced into circulation.
while I've seen a bunch of them, and I can say I have seen some of the best adaptations of novels and comics, animes, series and TV shows, there are not a handful of movies I can decide to see over and over again.
few week ago.. I came across this movie Damsel
While the name threw my thoughts to wander really far.. and how this name was going to relate to the kind of movies I like ..
I kept thinking about things like "Damsel in distress", trying to relate with it.
I decided to go check the ratings and the insights from movie critics coupled with helpful comments of those who had seen it already. And to my amazement...it was really something interesting.
CAST
Millie Bobby Brown as Princess Elodie
Nick Robinson as Prince Henry
Robin Wright as Queen Isabelle
Angela Bassett as Lady Bayford
STORY LINE
The movie talks about a young lady ready to get married to the prince of another kingdom inorder to save hers.
Her father being the ruler of a Kingdom that have experienced their worst yet and after having difficulties in keeping his country together and citizens migrating to neighboring territories..they decided it would be best she carries that responsibility which is to marry a prince of a rich kingdom which they probably never heard of.
traveled by boat, she arrives a beautiful and bountiful place with her Father, step mother and her kid sister who would not stop enjoying the sight..
met a quite handsome prince who was kind and fun to be with.
after being paid in gold for bringing a bride.. Her father was told a bitter truth which he could not tell his wife.
she soon began to suspect foul play.
It turns out this kingdom had a pact with a Dragon who had demanded an offering of 3 women of royal Blood every couple years..
Reason according to them was that..
centuries ago, the dragon attacked their city and when the king took his knights to slay the beast they were no match for her.
after killing them all save the king, the beast demanded for his 3 daughters to save the city, which he willingly sacrificed and from then on had become a tradition.
one princess had been sacrificed already leaving 2 to go.
After the wedding, she was carried into a cave for a supposedly royal ritual which ended with her been thrown into the deep of the mountain where the dragon caved.
She encounters the larva breathing dragon (the best I've seen by the way) and tried to fight for her life.. following the path of many other princesses who have fallen prey to this ferocious beast.
WHAT IS EXCEPTIONAL ABOUT DAMSEL
the best thing about this movie is the twist around it towards the end how the story they were told turned out to be a lie.. and how the dragon herself had been lied to for centuries.
The CGI of the dragon is exceptional and the cinematic experience is top notch..
I think you all should go see this if you haven't.
I couldn't stop myself from going back to this movie again& again and I can still watch it again and again.
Is "Favorite movie" and "movie I'll watch again and again" the same thing?
Certain reasons can make a movie your Favourite, things like story line, your favourite character, back to back action and all that. These can always make you go back to them after a period of time to relive the experience.
For a movie I can still watch again&again.. you can see it the next day and the next week..refer to friends and family and still see it with them when they watch.. reasons being that.. even you can't believe your eyes.. it's not necessarily about the fast pace action but how someone managed to pull that off.
Can't wait to tell you all about other movies I can watch again and again.
Thank you for your vote and comments

Never seem this movie, and according to the caption I really should. It’s totally my genre. Happy to see that it’s available on Netflix:)

In my opinion, the "Again and Again" contest is certainly not about new films, but about those that you have watched over and over again for years. And "Damsel" is a new film, and you already know for sure that you are ready to watch it several more times in the future?

Exactly my point sir.
Already made engagement to "Damsel" than I've made a whole lot of older movies and I see myself doing that more.
