Hi everyone! This is the 14th part of my series of writings about uncommon sea creatures. Today I would like to talk about the Barreleye Fish. It is a strange type of fish whose head is transparent. Although there are several types of species are found but the only difference is the body shapes.
These fishes are found in the depth of the ocean about four hundred to two thousand five hundred meters. Their habitats are deep down in the Pacific ocean where sunlight can't reach them.
In the front side of these fish, it looks like two eyes but actually, those two eye-looking spots are not the eyes, they are nostrils of the fish. The real eyes are behind the nares those two green-looking barrel-shaped things in the transparent head. These are also known as tubular eyes. And these eyes are protected by their transparent head filled with fluids.
The food of these fishes is usually small fish and jellyfish. These fish catch their prey staying below the prey. They look for food from above their head. It can swim motionlessly.
Thanks for reading my post. Hope that you have learned something new. If you have ever seen this sea fascinating creature then comment below and let me know about it.😀
Best regards
