SECS 8 Week 6: How do I want to grow old?

Hi friends!
Of course, old age is inevitable and will come to all of us, but how we will live then depends only on ourselves. We can look at it from the perspective of loss of strength and opportunity, but we can also look at it from the perspective of wisdom and experience accumulated over the years. It is worth remembering that every age has its pros and cons, and old age is not only limitations, but also many new opportunities and challenges. We can finally start doing things we didn’t have time for before, pursue our hobbies, spend more time with family and friends, or just enjoy peace and relaxation.

How do you want to age: healthy and energetic or limited and dependent on medication?

Of course, I would like to be a healthy and energetic person for old age, but unfortunately this can not be predicted. I will definitely need medication at this age, but we can make sure there are as few as possible. Therefore, it is already important to lead a healthy lifestyle, which will help minimize the need to take medications in later life. You need to take care of yourself, avoid addictions and take control tests for early detection of possible diseases.

What are you doing to reach the old age you long for?

  • Healthy lifestyle


    I live a healthy lifestyle and avoid unhealthy foods. Although sometimes there will be a desire to eat pizza or a burger, once in a while it will not harm our health

  • Physical activity


    When it comes to physical activity, I will definitely be active in old age. I love sports. I run and exercise a lot and I’m sure that won’t change with age.

  • Regular medical examinations


    This is exactly what everyone should do from time to time, because now diseases affect people even at a young age, so in my opinion this is the basis.

  • Intellectual development


    Nurturing intellectual development through reading, solving verbal puzzles, learning new languages, as well as participating in various courses and trainings positively affects our mental health, which has a big impact on our physical health.

Are you afraid of growing old, yes or no? Justify your answer.

I’m not afraid to grow old, even though we live in a time where the future is uncertain. Anything can happen and I will change my mind. Wars, The crisis, the constant struggle for power and money can and will change our world for the worse, but you need to think optimistically, and I certainly will not be afraid of old age and will do everything to be the best.

Do you have any experience to share with us about an older adult who is an example for you to follow?

I know a few people like that. Even when I went to school, my teacher was over 50 years old and regularly competed in various runs and marathons. Often, when I’m in the gym, I see older people exercising. I am glad that despite the age they do not stop taking care of their health and I will definitely be like that.
