Hello Everyone,

Hope you all are having a great time. This is my first post in Steem4Nigeria community. First, I would like to thank @goodybest for initiating this contest. This is one of my favourite contest, this is a good platform to share our unique local food around the world.

Today I am going to present you a renowned, authentic Sri Lankan food called Milk Rice which we call as "Kiribath" in our language. This enticing food is made with rice and coconut milk. This special dish is served at any auspicious occasion and celebration in our country. We Sri Lankans consider Milk Rice as a symbol of prosperity as it is made out of milk and rice.

This Milk rice can be taken into meal with both spicy Katta Sambol and sweet Jaggery. There is also different versions of Milk Rice such as "Mun Kiribath" which is made adding green gram to Milk rice and "Imbul Kiribath" made with Milk Rice and Pani Pol (sweet coconut).

Let's see how to prepare this delicious Milk Rice

Ingredients

Rice 1 cup
Water 1 1/4 cups
Curry leaves
Rampe
Cinnamon small piece
Cardamom 1
Cloves 2
Salt 1/2tsp
Thin coconut milk 1cup
Thick coconut milk 1cup

Method

Wash the rice well.

Add water, salt and other spices to the rice and cook it.

Once the rice is cooked add thin milk first and let it cook.

Next add the thick milk and cook it for 2mins.

Now the milk rice is ready.

Let me share you the "Imbul Kiribath" recipe as well.

Here we need to prepare Pani Pol first and you can find the Pani Pol recipe in my previous article where I shared the Pan Cake recipe.

Pani Pol recipe

Once you have prepared Pani Pol, you have to take some Milk rice and spread it over Kenda Leaf.

Next spread some Pani Pol over the milk rice.

Then set it tight as the way shown in the picture

After that remove the leaf.

Now you can taste "Imbul Kiribath".

Thank you for reading my article. Hope you enjoyed my recipe and we will meet soon with another dish. Till then good bye....
