THE DIARY GAME: ANOTHER FULFILLED DAY: (07TH AUGUST, 2024)

MY ACTIVITIES FOR THE DAY

As usual my day began with the soft hum of my alarm, gently nudging me awake folowed by the first light of dawn filtered through the curtains. I stood up from my bed got stretched, had my morning devotion, gathered my thoughts, and started preparing for the day ahead.

Apparently, my routine of getting ready for work is almost second nature now. Preparing my breakfast and packing my lunch then freshening up, slipping into my work attire, and ensuring I had everything I needed for the day, particularly my notepad for the health talk at the diabetic clinic.

Upon arriving at work, I quickly settled into the day’s rhythm 😄 My first task was giving health talk at diabetic clinic on "The Role of Vegetables in the Management of Diabetes." The session was enlightening, as I discussed the crucial role vegetables play in managing blood sugar levels and overall health in diabetic patients.

Below are some roles of vegetables in the management of DM you can also learn from.
👉 Lower Glycemic Index (GI): This helps prevent spikes and allows for better blood sugar control because veggies has low impact on sugar level.
👉 Rich in Fiber: Vegetables are high in dietary fiber, which slows down the absorption of sugars into the bloodstream. It makes one fill full and reduced the likelihood of overeating.
👉 Nutrient-Dense: Vegetables are packed with essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. These nutrients helps mitigate some complications associated with diabetes.
👉Weight Management: Incorporating variety of vegetables into your diet can help with weight management because they are low in calories.
👉Heart Health: Many vegetables, such as leafy greens are beneficial for heart health. They can help lower blood pressure and reduce cholesterol levels.
👉Versatility: Vegetables can be prepared in numerous ways such as; raw, steamed, roasted, or added to soups and stews. This makes it easier for hem to be added to meals.
The engagement from the patients was encouraging, and I was pleased with how well the talk was received the lectures.

After the wonderful clinic session, I went straight to the wards to review my patients. This part of my day is always intense though rewarding, as I assess their progress, adjusted their nutritional plans, and provide counseling where needed. Each patient is unique hence, tailoring their dietary needs requires careful thought and consideration.

At the end of my day at work I found myself leaving the hospital later than anticipated 😣 Then driving home was quiet, giving me a moment to unwind from my day's activities. Once I got home, I wasted no time in getting refreshed, allowing the cool water of the shower to wash away the fatigue.

Followed by dinner, spiced vegetable pepper soup with white rice, well prepared by my mom Hmmm.... so yummy 😀 just what I needed. A simple, nourishing meal to refuel after a long day. With my energy slightly restored, I turned my attention to the pending emails that had accumulated throughout the day. Responding to them took some time, but it was necessary to clear off the backlog and ensure everything was in order for the days ahead.

Finally, with the day's tasks behind me, I allowed myself to rest. The comfort of my bed was a welcome relief, and as I closed my eyes, I reflected on the day's accomplishments and prepared mentally for what tomorrow would bring.
