Hello everyone, How are you doing? , I hope you have all been doing great, I welcome you to one of my posts today in the Steem4nigeria community, I am obliged to have come across an interesting project in the community called Project Accelerator, this project entails great deal of daily features from Monday till Sunday.
Today, I will be joining the accelerator project tagged I Teach with the hashtag #s4naccelerator-s1d3.
Well, there are a lot of things I am sure to have been good at, and as well there are a few things I cally teach for free, what I am most obliged to teach is programming, I am well deep into programming, and I have been mostly conversant with the C language, Java, Github and as well with Arduino Programming, all these are my soft spot in Programming coaching.
Today, I shall be Teaching how to navigate through the Ubuntu Linux Operating system.
Ubuntu Operating system is quite a non-friendly interface O.S, which is unlike the Windows operating system we are familiar with, it's a Linux Based operating system and it is widely used by most programmers.
To use these operating systems, there are some basics users need to understand before the usage of the Ubuntu Operating system, and we should quite be assured that this O.S is faster and more effective than windows.
To create a Folder
To create a folder called "My computer" on Ubuntu - You type "touch My computer".
Now, to check whether the folder has been created successfully, you type "ls" to check what files are under the directory.
As seen from the image, it has brought out the files created using the ls.
To Create A Directory - otherwise Known as a Folder
To create a directory on Ubuntu, You use the "mkdir", for instance, if you are trying to create a directory named "Steem Photos, You use the code "mkdir Steem Photos".
We could see the folder interface is different from the file, it is highlighted in blue color.
To Copy a File to a Folder
To copy a file to a folder, it is quite easy to copy the file on windows, but when making use of Ubuntu 0.S - use the code format "cp -r nameofthefile foldername", assuming we are trying to copy the file "Mycomputer" into the folder "Steemphotos".
Then, you navigate to the Steemphotos folder by using "cd", which means Change directory, then you should use "ls" which also means listing to check if the file has been copied.
To Navigate back to the Previous Folder
Ubuntu is amazing and faster, with less user interface and as well less compromising, to navigate back to the previous folder, You simply use the "cd ..", which means You are returning to the previous directory you just changed from.
As seen in the image, we have easily navigated back to iteach folder from the Steemphots folder.
So as not to bog us with too many tasks to handle, I will simply be putting a stop to this phase, I teach various programming language which I do plan to continue every Wednesday in this community.
I hope you all as well joined, which in this case, we all get to learn interesting things about Linux programming.
