To many I encountered, When I explain Steemit to them, I practically emphasize its amazing role as a learning platform where indeed all individuals can gain knowledge, proper insights, and a value from diverse perspectives. And Moreover, I so stress the opportunity for financial normalization too, where one's dear contributions are not just appreciated alone but also compensated as properly.

To me my answer is "Yes", Steemit indeed can be viewed as an online business, albeit here with the distinct characteristics. Like the traditional businesses, it indeed operates on the principle of practically providing values in an exchange for rewards, in this case, the cryptocurrency.

However, unlike the conventional businesses revolving, Steemit really relies heavily on the user-generated content and as well the community engagement to sustain its ecosystem perfectly.
