What do you understand by the phrase customers are always right?
source
In my own understanding about this phrase "customers are always right" is simply means you should treat or render your service to your customer with respect, humility and tolerance. This is because they are they reason why you are there. They are the reason why you leave your comfort zone to that place, so no matter what they do to you, you need to be patience and then handle them with wisdom and care so that they will not doubt your capability and trust, and when your customer have or establish trust in you, they will come over and over again to patronize you.
Yes oooo, I have experienced special treatment and respect in the hands of Igbo people. This special treatment and respect was given to be during my marriage preparation. This happened when I went to Aba market to purchase some Asoebi material and other things. Actually, I didn't really know the market side to go, but reaching the Aba shopping center and I meant one lady who helped me to get all what I needed to buy for that day in less than the time I expected to get those things.
As human I was very happy and excited. What she does was that, she left her shop that I wanted to buy some good, but she didn't have complete want I needed and then took me around to get those things. You know, for instance in my place I don't think you can find anyone who will be willing to leave his or her own shop, ask you all you what, and then take you around all the places she thinks that those things will be available for you to get them. Have never seen or experience this treatment before in my place. But this is what an Igbo woman done for me.
Yes, I have done that several times because without them I may stay in my work place and go back the same without doing anything, so I have to treat them with respect.
For instance, I have encountered with my customer one day. The patient came to check his HIV status. When he came,he ask me how much am collecting to carry out the test for him and I told him 1000 naira ( 7steem). This customer was very angry, saying that this test is free and some places are collecting 500 naria (3.05 steem) why should my own cost up to a thousand naira. He was very angry, and saying all the loaded words in his mind, he turned to walked out. I just excuse him and told him, sir, do you know you are looking good today?, He was just looking at me and I added another word, sir, I like your senator outfit, the clothes is really nice on you, and he said thank you.
The next thing I do was to tell him to please sit down let me do the test for him. He sat down, I then took his blood sample and conducted the test for him. But before the test results came out, I had to explain the algorithm processes of conducting this test, and during the time I took the sample, i used another different method I know he may not seen it before to the blood sample. Do you know why I did this, I do that in order make him convinced about what I explained to him and to get away the anger in him too.
After everything, I was surprised that he paid me 1000 naria ( 7steem) instead of 500 naria ( 3.05 steem)I intended to collect from me. He was confess that he has not seen anyone doing that to him before. So you can see how customers are always right. And do you think he will not come again to patronize me? Of course yes, he will definitely come.
Well, although some customer are so rude and arrogant, they are always right as far as business is concern. The customers are the people who advertise your business more, this depends on how you treat and show them respect. In other words, dont only see them as your customer but as your brother and sister, so treat and respect your customers well because your customer may be your helper in the next second.
