Mentoring Newbies on steemit via WhatsApp Social Media / Steemit Promotion

It's no news that I'm trying to mentor people on this platform especially newbies so they can become well vest on this platform. I have created an opportunity where these one can learn not just on steemit but on another platform where they can get to hear me speak, see screenshots of what I'm teaching, join video calls and the likes of them. This platform is WhatsApp and I've been hosting mentorship session on a week. These is how we have been running it.

These are the active newcomers I'm mentoring. Some others who joined the platform through my lead like @berrytrillz has issues with his working device and has been off for a while. So with these newbies, I've been able to teach them the basics of the platform as the case may be. My teachings with them range from ;

Learning the write way, etiquettes on the platform, wallet activities, support and engagements, markdown styles and Completing their achievement tasks. In everything we do, not everyone learn at the same pace. So I try carrying these ones along so they'll meet up.

They have just started the learning process and haven't really gone deep. There's a saying that practice makes perfect. When we learn, we try practicing what we learn to get perfect at it.

Reasons for this Mentorship group is to help them see what they need to know about steemit compared to the novice out there and this Mentorship is open to newcomer who wants to join the space and learn. Currently, we have been on WhatsApp for months now as many have telegram issues. These are my teachings with them last two weeks.

The Basics of Steemit - Etiquettes

Before you enter a place, you must be familiar with how things are done there or you may end up killing yourself because of ignorance. Using voice notes and text messages, I've been able to spotlight all they need to know about creating contents using AI, paraphrasing, copy and paste from the net and using pictures that aren't licensed to be free photos. I also gave them checkers for these and assignments to see if they actually understand the lesson taught.

Asides these etiquettes, they needed to know how to navigate the platform. So I took time in ensuring they understand the ecosystem, where to click and where not to. This was made possible via a 40 minutes voice call and text messages programme.

They understood to a certain level as I didn't want to bulge them with lot of information which they may not remember the next day. Not everyone learn at the same pace. As a mentor, you need to be considerate to these ones as well although it doesn't mean you must carry everyone along.

Not everyone would be carried along as you can't slow down the lessons of those ahead trying to bring up one to meet them. To help these slow learners, I'm always available to give them answers to whatever questions asked. My Mentorship days are;

• Mondays
• Wednesdays
• Fridays and
• Sundays......

Encouragement programme

Every student needs encouragement especially when the learning process has become to difficult to process. They would feel they should just give up, after all, they didn't invest any dime.. As a mentor, I'm working out a strategy to be encouraging these newbies as they'll be tired at some point.

They'll need a push and I want to be ready to give them this push ahead, ahead. The strategy I'm working on concerning this encouragement includes;

• Developing this passion for content creation.....The content creators on Facebook are more hardworking as they spend their time shooting and editing a video and they need to do this consistently so as not to lose followers. Not to talk of their costumes. Most of them aren't paid for doing this. They just want the popularity and this is what they are passionate about doing. So we should even count ourselves lucky we aren't writing for likes but are getting supported to do so
• Experiences of my journey on Steemit can help
• Relating experiences of others and why giving up is the darkest option anyone should choose.

Promoting steemit on Instagram

There was a contest I participated in that emphasized on promoting steemit on Instagram social media without really emphasizing profits. I created a channel group where I'll host classes for those who'll be Interested in knowing more about the platform, steemit

The result

Through the support of the steemit team, they have been able to grow their steem power to a certain level of which they are still growing. Asides the Sp, having informative contents to make your blog rich is whet they are seriously working on to be active. The challenges I have at times is network issues which may cause me to skip classes at times but this has been resolved. What's the use bringing someone on the platform and then allowing that person navigate things on his own.?

It's more like taking a person to a place you're familiar with and then leave him without guides to find his way. He'll probably get lost or kidnapped as the case may be. So in a much as I'm trying to help promote steemit selflessly to compliment a favour, I also try mentoring the newbies I bring on board and also encourage them to push further.

We don't just sign up, we mentor. Not for self glory or fame but for the satisfaction and peace of mind and also a way of repaying the favour you had of joining this platform through someone.
