She lost her very own life because she trusted Him. She was just too blind to see the inside of the man who cover himself with a coat of love and pretended to love her more than he loved himself. Reasons why most people say in pidgin English; Why you go dey trust Man.

As imperfect humans with flaws, it's rather difficult to trust anyone even those we think are very close to us and can't do otherwise. When they see you progress more than they do, when they feel they have their own decisions to make irrespective of your feelings, when the friendship and bond is tight but greed and the desire for more sets in.

** That bond is disconnected. They even deny knowing you. Reasons why you can't fullyplace your Trust in anyone other than God otherwise, you'll be served breakfast. This topic was about me today and I'm pouring out my feelings in words

What do you think the word trust means?

Trust is like a job interview. Before you get the job, you must be scrutinized first before you can find your place in that job or company. Trust is majorly found in a close relationship. It is that bridge that connects two set of people or people together in the sense that one relies on the other and confides in the person, knowing fully well that person can't do otherwise or harm him or her.

That confidence in doing things or getting to know personal things about one is trust. You're trusted as an accountant meaning that, money can't get missing in your care. Without trusting someone, you can't allow that person into your life. Once the trust is there, the bridge is built. This trust can extend from money, life, business, information, secrets and relationships. The only way to get one's trust is to be scrutinized by that person that you're worthy to be in his heart.

Presently in your country, do the citizens feel safe to trust one another? If not why? And if yes why?

I appreciate the use of the word presently. Let me cite an instance. 2 years back in Nigeria, there was a case of scamming for a period of 1 year. This happened when Yahoo boys from themselves as bankers to extort money from the less privileged and even the intellectual ones that fell victim. These people trusted these so-called bankers and gave them their pins. That's was how their money flew from their account. Ever since then till date, you can't confidently scam 70% Nigerians as they keep everything they own private now.

In my country, it's difficult for people to trust themselves because they are afraid of being cheated or scammed.

  • They don't send out money to strangers who borrow no matter the situation
  • They are extra careful in where their personal properties are kept because everyone is a suspect
  • You won't see a Nigerian leave his phone with another Nigerian to place a call and then leaves to get something.
  • Women are now sensible as they don't trust all men again
  • Uncles aren't trusted to be alone with a female relative.

These are cases to show everyone can't be trusted. A lot of people have learnt it the hard way because of trust. Experience is the best teacher.

Have you had any experience where your trust in someone was broken? Or such a scenario from a Friend?

This happened to me yesterday night but I won't talk about it as I've not gotten over it yet. I'll relate another experience where I trusted someone so much as a friend. I usually allow him inside my house to study with me, play and even to my room. This shows I trusted him more like a brother but the unexpected happened. He stole from me and when I was looking for what he stole, my mind never crossed that he could do such a thing.

It took me days before I started placing suspicious acts. He was the only one that entered my room that night the thing was stolen. It was then I challenged him and he brought it out. I never knew he could do this. Since then, the trust was broken. Another instance of a guy who was very close to me, has been reading with me and I've been discussing close things with him.

Guess what this guy did? He arranged a robbery for me to get rid of my importance. I never knew greed could make someone lose value in life. I learnt my lesson the hard way.

Can you suggest ways to mend broken trust?

It's good to see the word Suggest because I think it's very difficult for trust to ever get mended. If I'm suggesting, I'll say give the person a second chance to prove that he was actually sorry and didn't mean to. But this may be very dangerous as the person may be after your life sef when given second chance.

Another way is to be extremely careful with boundaries. No matter how a person is loved, you have your own personal boundaries that mustn't be crossed. **This is teach you a serious lesson and won't be that careless in placing trust on just anybody.

How can a friend you always allow into your room steal from you, that is so bad. If I were to be you, I would not have allowed the guy who sent robbers to rob and assassinate you. That is the greatest form of envy. Thank God none of them carried a gun or knife to hardest you, but had it been the guy with a stick who hit your head with it you would have been in conscious for days. Because with the type of people you move with. Good luck to you.

Never have I thought the guy would be this way. It's just like one user who lost her account because her boyfriend probably used her phone and got her keys. No one is to be trusted

Greetings dear friend,

Thank you very much for presenting us with a beautiful post.

Along the way in life I have trusted many friends and brothers, whom I have placed in the realm of my privacy. Just like what happened to you, it happened to me, small and big many things are stolen from my house, except my dear and near ones,Since then it's been heart breaking to believe them just like you, wish you well.

"Another way is to be extremely careful with boundaries". This is very true, regardless of how trusted or loved one may be, there is always a boundary to maintain or respect. That was a lovely one, best of luck
