Hello Steemians, I'd like to welcome us all to my first challenge in season 15, week 1. When I was going through the topics from different communities, "Life on Social Media" caught my attention. I hope and believe you all will find my post and contribution to this topic interesting and educational.
So far so good Social media has been the other of the day in our contemporary world, though it has created a lot of good and lots of harm since its inception. The first social media site was Facebook, with over ten billion users, owned by Mark Zuckerberg, and it has been in existence for more than a decade now. Today we will be discussing the good and bad effects of social media in the world. Enjoy as you read.
Do you support that our daily lives should be put on social media all the time?
Social has been one of the most interesting things that have happened to mankind. There, you see different users from different countries and a lot of happenings from different parts of the world. For me, my answer to the question is no. Because of some reason, I'll state below.
Privacy Issues: Sharing private information on social media frequently can jeopardize privacy. Some people place a high importance on keeping some parts of their lives hidden from prying eyes.
Mental Health: Spending too much time on social media can make people feel stressed, anxious, and under pressure to share an idealized picture of their lives. Constantly evaluating yourself against others might be detrimental to your mental health.
Security Risks: People who provide too much information about their day-to-day activities run the risk of becoming targets of identity theft, cyberbullying, or other nefarious activity.
Authenticity :A lack of authenticity may result from social media's curative nature. Sharing highlights all the time might lead to a skewed view of reality and make it difficult to keep real relationships going.
Have you ever experienced or seen any case where a person has the habit of showcasing his life on social media and the effects turned out well?
Source
One thing I notice about social media is that users of different social media tend to abuse it because they post a lot of unfiltered content that can be disturbing on social media. I have never seen a case of anyone who posts his or her life on social media and makes a positive result out of it. I have a practical example of someone whose nickname is Hushpuppy who likes to post all his luxury lifestyle on social media. Due to this effect, he was investigated by the FBI, caught for fraud, and sent to jail. There are many more examples, but things didn't turn out well for them.
Do you think all the showcases on social media are true?
I would strongly disagree that all the showcases made on social media are true, because the motives for which people post on social media are different, though some people deliberately share their real-life experiences for people to learn from.
A lot of people post fake pictures of them going to the mall for shopping just to make themselves feel big in the presence of their counterparts and this habit has made a lot of people run into depression not knowing that what they are seeing on social media is fake.
Do you feel safe on Steemit with your information? What can you say about Steemit?
I feel so safe on Steemit because it's centralized, meaning user information is kept by the user, and they do not allow third-party users to interfere in any transaction. The only information Steemit keeps is our biodata, posts, and transaction history.
As a user of Steemit, I have the privilege of keeping my private keys to myself. self, I am accountable for all transactions on my account. No one can come at my back to intrude into my account except the person who has access to my private keys
Steemit is a social media platform with a lot of promise for future growth. This is because social media based on blockchain technology allows people of all social classes to express themselves on the platform. for the fact that I'm still a newbie on Steemit, I have learned a lot from it, I feel comfortable, and I see Steemit as a place where we have excellent writers and reviewers.
Social is not something bad to engage on, but the way we use matters a lot, for a social media platform like Steemit you can't post something anyhow, so there's no way you won't always find write-ups that will make you grow well.
There are some socials I don't participate in again because they do not add any value to me as an individual, It does there is a catching cruise like my people in Nigeria will say lol......
I'll like to invite @bossj23 @mile16 and @blessb to participate in this challenge.
Thank you all for reading.
