Contest Alert: My Neighbourhood Watch #8 - Reporting Events Around Us.

in hive-147599 •  last year

Hi Neighborhood watch writers. I am happy I have something to report again for the week. I hope we are doing fine. I am well except that I have been very stressed for the entire week. I wish to have time for myself and rest very well after a week-long of getting busy with activities.

My neighborhood watch activity for this week is all about a children's event that gathers the entire Sunday school children in the archdiocese of my church. It is all about "Children's Camping", a yearly program that happens under the watch of the archbishop of the church. It has been a program that I was partly involved in and that has taken a chunk of my time and restful moments.

Before this date, this camping exercise was slated to be held sometime the previous week but due to security-related issues within the region, the archbishop decided to postpone this program to this week to allow for better hosting and security of our children. We have live-in events since the 10th of August and this will run through the 13th day of the same month with a thanksgiving.

However, preparations started earlier before the postponement before halting and still reinitiated again after a new date
was fixed for the camping. As the supervisory coordinator of my circuit, it has been hectic for me all week long. Notwithstanding, we left on Thursday and I am writing this post on the Saturday after days of praying and fasting sessions and the archbishop's address to everyone.

The Archbishop Address today

It has been program after program for the children as they are mentored, taught, and advised. Not forgetting is their feeding pattern. There are arrangements for all children provided the circuits adhere to the rules and guidelines guiding meal provision. Food was distributed in coolers to the circuit and each circuit also told the number of children to come with.

For many circuits, this wasn't kept and also attracted some additional funding from the church circuits. Just like my circuit that was gove a 60-person attendance attracted an additional 44 persons. Each person comes with an extra cost of 3,000 NGN (17.54 STEEM) which invariably translates to about 132,000 NGN (771.9 STEEM). After much deliberation and understanding, we were able to reach an agreement where 20 persons out of the 44 were to be catered for. In the end, we paid 60,000 NGN (338 STEEM).

Overview of the Crowd in Attendance

The balance of 22 kids has been taken care of because all that the secretariat has done is provide food for the 80 persons and it does not matter how we feed the entire 104 persons in attendance. We have managed this meal by sharing meals meant for 80 people among 104 persons.

Tomorrow Sunday would be a Thanksgiving service for the children and hence the circuit churches would be expected to come and convey their children to their circuit church headquarters.

Thank you, my neighborhood watchers. Tomorrow is our Thanksgiving Sunday. I hope to bring more events to the table.
