In your understanding, who is considered a mother, and what are the duties of a mother?

Wow! It feels so good to talk about Mothers because I am super proud of my own mother. A mother is the person that conceived you and carried your pregnancy for about 9 months, and later birthed you, breastfeed you and cuddled you all-through your early stage of life.
The duties of a mother includes cooking the family meals and served same to all the members of the family.
She is also task with nurturing the children as a core responsibility. Nurturing here includes meeting the children’s physical and basic needs, such as food, clothing, and protection. This also includes loving, educating, and training them.

What are some of the sacrifices that mothers make for their children?

A true mother is always in the habit of constantly putting her child’s needs before her own. It is not easy to be a mother, sometimes it might not be convenient for them; mothers do give up many things for the sake of motherhood. They give up their hobbies, dreams, plans and in some cases their careers. They put their lives on hold so their babies can live out theirs.
Mothers do put their kids needs first which may be contrary to theirs. In an ordinary palence it is hard to give up what you want, but a mother because of her affections will give up anything possible for the happiness of her children that is what we call sacrifice.
Mothers do endure all sorts or manner of pain for the sake of their children's comfort.

Below are some of the sacrifices mothers make from conception:

1. Mothers do sacrifice their Bodies:
   This is one of the sacrifice of being a mother, this one is inevitable for one to assume the status. Pregnancy and breastfeeding can both leave temporal or permanent marks as the case may be. I watched my wife closely from the time she conceived till when she put to bed. Honestly it was not easy for her, carrying a living being inside of you is indeed a very big deal. Her skin changed, stretch marks was all-over her and she don't like the appearances of them at all; and also the extra weight she put up, you could see how uncomfortable she was then. In-spite all she endured, within that period I saw the beauty of motherhood and the love they have for their children. It looks as if when she put to bed it will be over, words will fail me trying to explain the whole process. Babies are very fragile, now as I am typing this she just finished bathing him and now giving him a suck. Hmmm! Castiel is exactly two (2) months today but he can suck for Africa and for Guinness Book of Record.

2. Mothers do Sacrifice Sleep:
   Sleepless night has been the other of the day from conception to when she put to bed and till date, I don't know when it will end oooo. I discovered within this period that sleep deprivation with toddlers means a lot and cannot be avoided or ignored.

3. Time Sacrifice:
   When you observe closely you will see that mother’s time is not her own. She might hoped for a nap or rest after performing the house chores only to hear cries like “Mummy! Mummy!” just moments later. Sometimes she may planned to attend a celebration but only to end up letting go because a child wakes up sick.

4. Favorite Foods Sacrifice:
   This is a huge sacrifice, someone might view it as nothing but I bet you it is never convenient to mothers at all. For example since my wife conception she was advised to reduce sugar consumption and before and after she put to bed till now she cannot consume anything with sugar and before she cant take anything without it. Beans is her favorite, whatever she will cook raging from rice, yam porridge, potatoes porridge and such like beans must follow but not anymore; because of the reaction it will cause on the sucking baby. Having kids changes the way you eat. Now if we attempt to eat out, she must think and be careful of her choice of food unlike before she could just other anything she like.

How does a mother's love shape a person's character and development?

The guidance, love and support of a mother has a very important role to play in shaping a person's character and development. A mother's influence can also shape a child's values and beliefs, thereby helping them to develop a strong moral compass that will guide then throughout their lives.
Mothers love does not only stop at pampering her child but also educate her child on moral and cultural values. The character of every person potrays the quality of his or her upbringing which completely depends on the training he or she received from his or her mother.
Children who received adequate nurturing care from their mothers are mostly tend to exhibit higher levels of emotional intelligence, empathy, social competence as well as moral discipline.

How can we celebrate and show appreciation for our mothers and their love?

Honestly, our mothers worth to be celebrated, they've pass through a lot bringing us up right from conception, therefore they deserve to be celebrated. You can take her out for a meal, go on a walk, or simply spend time talking and reminiscing about the past. This can be done time to time or at least on special occasions like her birthday, Mothers day and suchlike. Such days are days to make your mother feel special and loved.
Buy her gifts from time to time and on such special occasions to make her feel appreciated.
The most important aspect of Mother's Day is spending time with your mother and showing her how much you care. Again try to know her favorite in all areas covering food, hobbies etc and make her experience the best of them.
