A New Year, New Me.

Greetings to you my beloved friends and steemians of this lovely community. Every year in Nigeria, people often observe the cross-over night which leads them to the next year. It is a tradition that everyone hold in high regards and doesn't want to miss that moment. That day, we see a lot of people going to church in the evening. This include even those who haven't been to church since beginning of the year.
For some, the just want to be in church and cross over to the next year, while for some, they are there to thank God for seeing them through right from the beginning of the year to the ending. Others however go to church just because their friends or neighbors are going to church.

Great thanks to @eveetim for organizing this contest. Kindly stay out and read through as I take you through the journey of "a new me".

Is it really important to look back at the past years and make adjustments?

Oh yes...!!! It's very very important. The only way one can measure his growth is when he sits back and look at his achievements in the previous years. How far he has gone in life, if his previous goals were achieved, what worked out and what did not work out for him/her. The experiences acquired and the lessons learnt. The habits to drop and the habits to adopt. Looking back at the past years helps one to identify his/her strengths and weaknesses, helps one to improve o planning as well as setting realistic goals.

After dropping some of these habits like eating outside and not planning my budgets, I've adopted some new changes like cooking mh own meals, ensuring i plan my monthly budget and I i work strickly strickly with the budget. I've also adopted the habit of writing at least a content each day to enable me improve on my daily writing.

About the slogan "dey for who dey for you". Do you think people should relate only with those who relate with them, even if it were their family members and close friends?
.
Truly, as it is said, "be there for who was there for you". This is not just a statement but a deep message. The only time you will know who your true friends are is when you are in need or are in a situation that needs their time and attention. You will be surprised at the type of responses you will get.

If I may ask, who is a family member? For me, I define being a family as one who is there for me both in good and trying times. It is often said that family is blood and blood is thicker than water. But I said that friendship is thicker than blood. I've got a few friends who are more than a family to me. They've been there for me and I also make sure I'm there for them too.

On the other hand, some friends are not worth keeping. They will only remember you when they need a favour from you. Once I discover you have such traits in you, I will blacklist you without thinking twice. I don't keep good weather friends because I'm not one of them. So dear friends, dey for who dey for you.

Do you think as we enter the new year, that we are getting older and there should be a change in attitude?

Yes, it is necessary to have a change in attitude as we grow and get older. Sometimes after reflecting on my past years and remember some attitudes I've displayed, I can't help but just laugh y myself because I know I was still naive.

As I grow, I noticed that there are a few attitudes that subconsciously, I dropped them. It was then that I realized that life is in states. As you get older, there are certain attitudes you need not exhibit. A few persons however grow old with their previous or childish attitudes. Little Wonder, it is often said that "age is just a number.

Are there attitudes you need to do away with this year? Tell us about them and the reasons why you need to change them

Yes, I've got a few attitudes I need to do away with this year. First is my eating outside. I need to do away with this habit because over time, I noticed that a greater percentage of my earnings is spent on food. This is because I hardly cooked. But this year, I've made it a point of duty to do away with my eating out and cook my own meals.

Second is keeping too many friends. I've decided to reduce my circle of friends this year. I want to have a small circle of friends who share the same ideas and principles as I do. Keeping too many friends who ain't contributing to your growth ain't worth it. Moreover, it's not how big your circle of friends are but how much they've got to offer.

I'm inviting @ashley-p @owulama and @vickyson to participate in this contest also.
