My Understanding About Downvote

Whenever a user account is launched in a web browser, the first display is the current and previous posts the person made. On a post, one will notice two arrowheads with different colours. The most popular one is the green one which is called upvote. It is commonly used because it's just like a thumb up to a user's posts. The red arrowhead is called down vote. It is used like a thumb down to a user's post. This option is clicked when a user lack elements of a content or it is full of error, then, it is used to notify the user that he/she should avoid the error. This option is rarely used but it is important to know this significance of this Arrowhead.

Do Downvoted affect Our Account

If upvotes can influence an account positively, then down vote has the ability to influence a user's steemit account. Upvote generally is used to tell the user that he/she did an amazing work. And if a top curator vote on that post, then that user is supported with a particular number of dollars which is converted to steem coins. This cab be benefit of upvoting.
But, if the user is being down voted, then, it can be regarded as a bad omen. Particularly, if a high dignitary on steemit like admins, moderators or curators downvote you, then your reputation will suddenly drops. Your reputation dropping at each downvote is as worse like anything. In general, I will say that downvote can affect a user's steemit account negatively.

Do You Think Downvotes Can Help To Reduce Plagiarism, Abuse and Spamming?

In my point of view, I will strongly agree that downvotes will help the steemit ecosystem to reduce plagiarism, spamming, etc. When an important personality on Steemit upvote a person's post and he/she later discover that the post is plagiarized. Then, he/she will have no option but to downvote the person. This down voting will affect his curation rewards and reputation. When the person guilty of this find out, then he/she will stop posting plagiarized or spammed work on Steemit.

Do you think reputation plays a vital role during a down vote incident? How about having a lower reputation value and down voting another user with higher reputation. Does that reduces the reputation value of the user with higher reputation value?
