Introduction

My name is Emmanuel Prince. My username on Steemit is @emmy01.
I am a citizen of Nigeria by birth. My country is naturally blessed. I love my country. I'm glad to write on this topic "navigating life in our homeland"

Describe the current situation of your country or homeland in terms of economic, financial and social aspect?

Few months back, Nigeria conducted the general election on the 25th February 2023 to elect the new commander in chief of the country. Barely two days after the inauguration of the newly elected president on 29th May, 2023, the announcement of the total removal of fuel subsidy was made. The pump in petrol price from N189 to N570 per litre. The president said "the money should be re-channelled into infrastructure, education and jobs to better the lives of the people". Ever since then, the price of absolutely everything(basic need of man) has increased. Nigeria is a country blessed with abundance of resources which makes me to come to think, why are we still undeveloped. These are results of bad leadership and corruption. The past leaders A country with crude oil and no refinery is nothing but a mismanagement of resources. This is because the crude oil would be sold out at lower price and then refined to petrol and sold back to us at a higher price. It's been revealed that Nigerians consume a total of over 60 million litres of petrol and my question is where does the money goes? Where does all the taxes go to??

The current economic status of Nigeria is low. The economy fell from a GDP of 3.6% in 2021 to 3.3% in 2022 and to 2.4% in the first quarter of 2023. This decrease has put a pressure on the economy. The economy is said to grow by 3.3% before the end of 2023 which is good, 3.7% in 2024 and amazingly 4.1 in 2025. Our economy is very diverse and large, blessed with a great beneficial agriculture substructure and typically supportive climate condition.
Nigeria's financial life is aided by the constant compilation of public debts to $108.1 billion.
The current social appearance of Nigeria is described by; lack of job opportunities which is at the core, political/social unrest and poverty which embraced more Nigerians due to the inflation and increase in prices.

What challenging situation have you faced in your country?

The challenging situation I've faced in my country are few. Below are the major ones.

  1. Insecurity: Insecurity has been my major concern in Nigeria. Rising from the boko Haram insurgency in 2015, banditry attacks, farmers herdsmen clash. At some point if the situation is at its peak, the freedom of movement is restricted by fear. Just 5 days ago a group of about 15 individuals dressed as the local vigilante group (VGN) invaded our residency for a robbery mission. They actually succeeded in their plans because there was no trace of the presence of any security officer at that time. Thanks to God no one was hurt. I don't know if the government don't pay the security agencies to do their job perfectly or something else. If the officers were did their job perfectly, there would be no trace of such incident. Sometimes I receive call of clash between herdsmen and Farmers in my hometown. I pray the government takes action
  2. Fuel subsidy:

Whenever there's a removal of fuel subsidy in the nation, it's doesn't really have much effect on the economy and well being of the people. But in reference to the recent total removal of fuel subsidy is a hard blow. This has made Nigerians to suffer. As a young class teacher, During the academic session, before I go to work, I have to calculate my transport fare everyday, subtracting the total amount for 25 days or more from my salary. Nothing much is left for me.

Despite these challenges, how do you survive /manage life?

You can't just sit and let your challenges dictate your well-being. I've learned to think and positive, believe in myself to see how little my challenges are... Despite these challenges, I realized ways to keep myself busy to take care of my needs. By learning skills (mostly digital skills), providing services etc. Steemit has also been part.

What lessons have you learned from the experiences you've had in your homeland/country?
  1. Remember God: In everything in Life give thanks to God for he knows the reason. "Appreciation is the key for acceleration"
2.Work hard: No matter the challenges, be creative, find a way to make it. Don't sit idle and do nothing. Never give up because of failure. Thinking you'd see manner from above because you are a genuine christian/muslim is a big setback when you do nothing.
  2. Possess good values: This has helped me in and out of challenges. Possessing values like honesty, integrity, self discipline can actually set you high and achieve Your aim. A person without value is likely to become empty.
