Introduction

It is Yuletide, a season where people are engaged in one activity or the other, partying, taking leisure time dining and wining with family and friends while others are just on the neutral, they're just on the watch not having any special activity attached to the period.

My observations

However, as I took a keen watch around my neighbourhood, I noticed something which is almost, if not a tradition occurring during this season, (end of the year).

So, living in a Christian state, I've noticed that almost all the churches have one church event or another in the last days of the year. The event could be a prayer meeting for the new year or a praise program in order for members to gather to praise and thank the Almighty God for His blessings and benevolence on the people throughout the year.

I personally worship in one of the branches of the RCCG in my city. In my local church, it has been a culture for the past 6 years to organise a three-day praise program to wrap up the year. During the program, the church pitched a large stage outside the church and different praise and worship music ministers would be invited on each of the days to join the congregants of the parish to praise God.

But this year on, looking at my neighbourhood, I've noticed that other branches of the RCCG have also organised the same program, also pitching their tents outside in order to thank God for 2023 and committing the new year into God's hands.

So, in my parish, the crusade-like program started on Friday, which was day 1. Different music ministers led people to praise God. Even the talking drummer was given the opportunity to raise a sound of praise to God. While eulogising God, members danced and danced, praising God.

Saturday, which was day 2, was more amazing as another set of praise and worship ministers sang praises to God in a different dimension. It has been so eventful so far as today, Sunday being 31st, the last day of the year. We will all return to church in the evening for communion, anointing and crossover service in 2024.

Do you also live in a Christian state like I do? Have you noticed or joined any of these end of the year Christian rituals around your locality? What are your observations?

Meanwhile, I wish you a happy new year wherever you are.

I'm inviting my friends to share the happenings around their neighbourhood.
