HELLO LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!

Greetings to you all, i am happy to participate in this educative contest and I said welldone to the person who initiate it.

INTRODUCTION

We are living in the world that things are very had, suffering, illness of all kind, anxieties of life, death, cruelty, poverty etc and is not easy to deal with. These has made a lot of people starting from children, to adult to put up aggressive behavior especially adolescent and these results in further problems like injustice, war, killing etc in the world today, if we do not know how to deal with it.

WHAT IS AGGRESSION

Aggression is any behavior or act that can harm another person, animal or damage physical property.

IS IT PREVALENT AMONG YOUTH IN MY AREA?

Yes, it is very rampant among youth in my place

CAUSES

There are many factors that contribute to aggressive behavior which are :

BIOLOGICAL FACTORS

  • Irregular brain development
  • Lesions in the brain
  • Neurodegenerative condition
  • Genetics
  • Mutations of certain genes
  • Brain chemical and hormone imbalances
  • Unusually high or low levels of certain neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, and gamma-amino-butyric acid
  • Higher levels of testosterone

MEDICAL FACTORS

  • Brain damage
  • Epilepsy
  • Stroke
  • Dementia
  • Head injury
  • Side effects of medications and other substances
  • Medications or substances that have changes in the brain

PSYCHOLOGICAL FACTORS

  • Traumatic event like divorce, peer harassment, death or illness of love one
    *Low self esteem
  • Physical or sexual abuse
  • Peer pressure
  • Addiction e.g drugs or alcohol
  • Learning disorder

MENTAL OR PSYCHIATRIC FACTORS

  • Intermittent explosive disorder
  • Oppositional and defiant disorder
  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Autism
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Schizophrenia
  • Depression
  • Substance use disorders
  • Chronic stress
  • Panic disorder
  • Personality disorders

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

  • Aggresive and violence upbringing
  • Abusive parents and caregivers
  • Bullied siblings
  • Grewing in a neighborhood or community where violence and aggression happened frequently
  • Cruel or bad treatment from teachers and classmates

EFFECTS OF AGGRESSION

  • Separation/divorce

  • Loss of child custody

  • Strained or ruined interpersonal relationships

  • Physical injury from engaging in fight

  • Worsening of mental health disorders

  • Poor performance in school and/or at work

  • Academic failure

  • Loss of job

  • Chronic unemployment

  • Legal problems, including arrest, fines, and incarceration

  • Financial instability

  • Social isolation

  • Depression

  • Substance abuse and addiction

  • Sense of hopelessness and helplessness

  • Social withdrawal and isolation

SOLUTIONS

• Counseling individually and family on how to talk to one another and the need to be guided by the professional

• Taking responsibility for ones behavior and resolving problems in relationships

• Make sure to solve all relationship problems that causes aggressive behavior

• If diagnosed with a psychiatric or neurological problem, like epilepsy or depression, taking the right medication will reduce aggression.

• Set up a behavioral contract which force them to take responsibility for their behavior and conduct.

• Write down positive behaviors that is expected

• Reward should be given for those behaviors

• Make a clear rules that everyone knows

• Learn how to use the relaxation techniques when you get angry and stressed

• Learn how to manage stress

CONCLUSION

Aggression is deadly if we do not know how to control it and it doesn't means that all people that are mentally sick are always aggressive and all aggressive people are mentally sick. Everyone have the aggressive behavior at times when it is trigger but if it is control we can not act otherwise.
