OPPORTUNITY COMES BUT ONCE

Greetings to all Nigerians and a happy Independence🇳🇬

This is a great topic to make a write-up on, "opportunity come but once" as it is a general saying known and used by many, as it says that if you lose an opportunity it will be hard to get back that same opportunity, it doesn't really say that you will never find that opportunity again but should ring in you that you should not joke with opportunities, though some opportunities are just wolves with a sheep's coat, so we should be conscious of what we chose.

My definition of opportunity

Opportunity which we can see as chance, it is a time which makes it possible for us to do something, we can have an opportunity to run a particular office and all we have to do is to grab this opportunity, opportunity has a time limit cos it can be missed that's when people say "oh! I missed such golden opportunity". Words we use interchangeable with opportunities are; chance, moments, slots, time and also golden opportunity.

My thought on the statement "opportunity comes but once"

I support this statement, as people tend to miss opportunities that would have changed their lives due to some sorts of excuses, like I don't feel like going for this let me wait for another!, now if another person gets into that opportunity and wins this golden opportunity you will live in regrets and bring in these regret statements "how I wish". There are many opportunities in life if you missed the first with the excuses you gave there is a probability that you might lose the next due to you being used to giving excuses, so we should make good use of the opportunities we have, the statement there doesn't exactly mean that if you miss an opportunity you won't ever find any again. But make good use of the opportunity you have.

Do you think this statement is misleading?

This statement encourages people to up their game and make good use of the opportunities they see, but in some way it makes them get into situations they didn't want to find themselves in due to rushing into opportunities they find which you don't know if it is a good one.

An experience based on this statement

While in school we had this extra further mathematics class in preparation for our west African Examination (waec) and we also had a football match, and the next day was our further maths exams..since there are topics we didn't catch up on the teacher gave us this opportunity to show us the remaining topics we didn't cover, after school we were all in class for the further maths lesson while my friend left for the football match, due to the small number of students offering further maths we were told to sit one person a desk and the desk wasn't even close for you to get a math formula from a friend..lol. Luckily for us one of the topic came in as a compulsory number 1 question and others came in as part of obj's, we answered those questions to our taste and we were sure of getting it right.. we were really amazed how our teacher knew it will be included...it was just in the exam scheme.lol..Results came we have credits, B,C and all but that my friend had a D which would spoil his results based on what he wanted to study in his tertiary level. That is to show you that if he took that opportunity being given to us, I don't think he would have been in such level, even a c6 would be appreciated.

If you were to rephrase the statement what would it be?

I would give it...
"Don't joke with your golden chance"
Yes this is what I would say.
