It's always exciting to make post in a community like Steem4Nigeria. Before I start I would like to invite two fellow Steemians @crismenia @joymm to participate the contest.
In last few days another festival was celebrated by local Purohit and Sanatan Dal in collab with Panchanantala Temple Committee. It was Maa Chandi that was worshipped.
The most important ritual to honour Chandi Mata by offering sacrificial fire or homam where people burn their precious items symbolically. As if they sacrifice for their mother arrival.
The idols are made of Clay. The pran is first consecrated in the image. The pandits and Purohit also chant Chandi mantra, shloka and hymns.
It is said in many places in Sanatan history that in the olden times, gods and demons used this yajna continuously to be strong and energetic. The Brahmin who performs the Chandi text should be a scholar who can pronounce the text correctly, so that benefits can be obtained.
Maa Durga is called the goddess of power. The yagya which is performed to please Durga ji are called Chandi Yagya. Shat Chandi Yagya, Nav Chandi Yagya is described as very powerful in Sanatan Dharma. It has been said in the Vedas about its glory that after continuous Chandi Yagya, your enemies cannot harm you.
Today was the immersion day. It is done in two ways in the morning mother chandi face is reflected on mirror floating in water. But the idol will be immersed into pond water. Before immersion married women will Baran the idol step by step. First they will revolve arround the image seven times. Then ladies will love and hug her with bettle leaf on her face. Then godess will be feed sweets and pan.
Finally they will whisper in her ear to ask her come again next year. The red sindhur will be exchanged among the married women for the long life and good health of their husbands and other members of family.
