Happy last day as well as last Sunday in the month of April, 2023. Today i will be sharing with you on an interesting topic "Bring an offering"
It's always good for we to give thanks to the Lord for his hand of victory upon our lives and families. Today was another church sermon which open my eyes and increase my understanding about giving.
Below is the Bible chapter that was used for this message.
Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts. Psalm 96:8.
The word
It is by walking in God's way and offering ourselves to him that we find a place of eternal belonging in His family. When we follow His laid down principles, we prosper and flourish! In the Old Testament especially in the Book of Leviticus, God established a system of offerings to teach the Israelites as they approached the Promised land that everything belonged to him.
The Israelites had to give offerings to him in an appropriate way. We can see that God wanted the children of Israel to bring their offerings thoughtfully with an understanding of the significance of what they are doing. They could not be in haste to drop them at the feet of the Levite and walk away.
Today, we do not have to follow all the details that God specified in the Old Testament law, but the principles remain the same. Our attitude towards the offerings we bring to God matters to God. We should give our tithes and offerings and our time and service to God with a heart of thanksgiving for his love. We should not think that our offerings are paying for his forgiveness.
Sometimes people think they can live any way they want and make up for it by bringing an offering to God or donating large amounts to church projects. This is not true. Unfortunately, some church leaders do not correct these attitudes for fear that such people might stop giving. This is what has man many just a church goer and not having the real word of God in them.
Also, Israelites were expected to bring offerings to God in addition to the regular offerings and tithes. The Israelite was expected to give offerings on everything from first fruits offering brought from portions of a crop to fellowship offering. Likewise, for we to diversify our offerings, we should freely give not only money but also our time and talent. May God help us.
Points to note
Ask yourself, are you faithful in bringing your tithes and offerings to God?
SCRIPTURES
Malachi 1:11; 3:9-12; Romans 12:1.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Father, thank You for the timely reminder from Your Word to me today.
2. Lord Jesus, help me to be more faithful in bringing my tithes and offerings to You in acknowledgement that You own me and all that I have in the name of Jesus.
3. Father, make me a good example to other believers in generosity and faithfulness in the name of Jesus.
In conclusion, bringing an offering to the Lord is to tell him thank you for the life, food breath and provisions he has given to us.
I really feel good hearing this topic. Tell me what you have learnt from this topic and what was the topic of the sermon of Mass in your different denominations.
Thank you for your time.
