A Memorable Monday// A Foodful Day - 23/12/2024

Hello dear friends! It's so good to be here. I would love to share my foodful day with you. Yes, you heard me right 😁. My day was foodful because everywhere I went, I was given something to eat.

My day started fine. It was the day after our last day of regional convention. Everyone was tired because we were super busy that weekend. We all slept in.

Then, my friend and I proceeded to wash the plates, spoons, pots and every other thing used during the convention. After the morning chores, I ate papaya (papaw) as my reward for a job well done 😅.

After a while, I had breakfast. I ate boiled yam and eggs prepared by my mom.

Next, we set out to visit a relative. It was a short visit. We spent about five minutes there. We headed to the local market to get two important items for my aunt and uncle who would be traveling back the next day.

We succeeded in purchasing one item. The second one was not found. The issue was that my uncle did not know the name. The only description he gave was that it looked like onions but very small. The local traders presented what they had, but it was not what we were looking for.

After spending about an hour walking around to look for it, we decided to call it a day from the market. It was obvious that since we didn't know its name, it would be impossible to describe.

We set to the village which was about forty minutes away. I slept throughout the journey after the ultimate search in the market 😅. As I opened my eyes, behold, we were approaching the entrance of the house in the village.

I had fun there. I saw some animals like pig, goat and cat. The environment was serene except from the sound made by the animals. The atmosphere was cool.

I was amazed by the way the Afang bed was designed.

My uncle plucked some five finger fruits for us. I ate a lot. That would be the highest number of five finger fruits I have ever eaten in a day. One good thing about visiting the village is that you can never visit without eating some fresh fruits and vegetables. It is never missing in the village.

My aunty showered us with love. We did not return empty handed - she gave us palm oil, abre, Afang, periwinkle and many others. I really enjoyed my short visit to the village.

We traveled back to Uyo to visit a long time family friend. We were served rice and stew for lunch. It was delicious.

We were not yet done. We were invited to a get together at a friend's place and we went. The get together was very nice. It was a buffet. Lots of food was prepared. Anything you could think of. My tummy was not prepared to eat anything. I was still full with rice and stew.

I opted for peppered dog meat with moi moi and pork. That is what my tummy could carry. We enjoyed ourselves there. The men were asked to sing for the women and the women, in turn were asked to sing for the men. It was really late and we went home.
