Have you missed my post? Here I'm to share my thoughts on this topic.parental Enforcement of Decisions on Children., Every parents wants the best for their children, the decision parents enforces on their children can be positive sometimes negative. Let's expatiate more using the hints below.
Do you think it is okay for parents to influence the decisions of their children?
There's a saying that what an elder sees up even when a child climbs the highest mountain they will not see it. Judging from this I can say the parents has every right to influence the decisions of their children. But in a situation whereby the parent's decision is not suitable for the children based on their own choice it's advisable to allow such child to take his/her stand regardless of the parents influence.
During the time of marriage or when deciding a course to study in school, what is the place of parents in giving their children guidance?
During this time some parents has a big role to play because children at that age are lead by what they are seeing , for instance a child may like the way a policeman carries his gun and likes to become a policeman not having a depth knowledge of what being a police man entails in this scenario it's the parents that can influence the child's decision by directing him or her on the right course to study.
Like I said at the beginning of my post, Every parents wants the best so it's at their position to advise and influence their children decision although it's left for the parents to allow their children to have a say in what they like
Can a parent actually misguide their children in decision making?
It is not common but it happens, there's this VIP hotel in my city, it is strictly for the rich and high profile people working in this place can give any worker there opportunity to meet with big people, Mr Mike was working there as the manager he employes and sacks any worker who misbehaves , at the time the daughter was of age he advised her to study hotel management so that she can gain automatic employment after her studies, at first the girl rejected the decision but later she was convinced by her father. Do you know that something treble happened and government closed down the hotel and Mr Mike lost his job without any alternative or compensation. The daughter finished school no work for her, only to work as a receptionist she blamed the father for her unemployment. This was a case of parents misguiding their children on decision making.
Do you have any experience of your parents enforcing decisions for you against your will or experience of someone you know ?
I have an experience of parents enforcing decisions against their only children. Amara is an only child , when we talk about decency and beauty Amara could be used to describe or define a beautiful girl. Due to her parents belief she was forced to marry pastor's son against her will, their wedding was talk of town during their wedding it was obvious that the marriage was against Amara's wish but due to her parents stand in the Christian faith she allowed her parents to influence her. It was not up to two years the marriage was divorced on the ground of domestic violence.
Summarily, Every parents should allow their children to have a say in decision making, no parents should seal a decision weather it is favorable to the children or not. The world is developing rapidly and knowledge is also increase on daily basis those professions or decision that was the best then may not be the best now. Advice and don't let it be a do or die affair.

Speaking about the hotel lady.. there is exactly the same thing happening in Lagos but this one is the case of a big school.
The mum sent her kids overseas to study education but unfortunately they got there and built a life for themselves and refused to come back to naija to take over the school.
The mum is late now and the kids are struggling to sell the school off because no one wants to stay in naija. The school has taught a lot of popular people that are in government now and they are the ones trying to delay the sales..

Your post is so interesting, see how you analyzed how a father misguided his daughter in studying hotel management in order to gain automatic employment in a VIP hotel which was actually against the daughters wish... But at the end it backfire on the both of them not having a job, that was really a sad one for the girl.
