The first thing to do when you want to check the engine oil level of a car is to park it on a flat surface with the engine off and cold:
this allows you to get a correct reading and protects against the risk of burns caused by hot engine parts.

Start by opening the hood and identifying the oil dipstick, which has a brightly colored handle that is easy to find.
Gently remove the dipstick, wipe it with a clean cloth or paper towel to remove oil residue from previous readings, then reinsert it into its original location.
Remove it again to read the oil level, which should be between the "min" and "max" indications or other specific indications on the dipstick.

If the oil level is below the minimum line, oil must be added immediately to prevent wear and damage to the engine:
Indeed, oil serves to lubricate the internal parts of the engine by reducing friction, allowing it to run smoothly and preventing overheating.
When there is a lack of oil, the metal components rub against each other, the engine overheats and does not dissipate this heat sufficiently.

Another thing to check is color and consistency to make sure the oil is fresh and in good condition (should be amber or golden in color and have a smooth texture).
Indeed, if the oil is very dark in color, grainy or contains sludge, it may be contaminated:
At this point it no longer does its lubricating role, no longer reduces friction between mechanical parts, which increases wear and overheating of the engine.
The presence of particles and deposits does not allow good circulation of oil in all places likely to reach and especially in critical areas of the engine.

Therefore a lack of oil or poor quality oil can lead to a risk of premature wear, deterioration of key engine parts, serious breakdowns, irreversible damage and costly repairs.

Follow the recommendations in your vehicle's manual when adding oil (for quality) and pour in oil gradually, checking the dipstick so as not to exceed the maximum level.

Using quality oil in good condition is essential to ensure good engine protection.

In summary, regularly checking and maintaining the correct level and quality of oil is essential for proper operation to achieve maximum engine efficiency and performance and extend the life of your car.
