They say that leisure is what you do in your free time, the time that you are away from work and have no duties to perform

I do believe that as we are all differ the word “leisure” will have a different meaning for each one of us. Furthermore is there no available list that tells you what to do or what not to do to in your leisure time.

Leisure is made up from various activities. This can be reading a book, visiting friends, walking in a mall and even gardening. It can be anything that you like to do which is not work related. You might wonder how gardening can be seen as leisure. Easy, as I told you we all differ. For some gardening is a task, and for others it is leisure as they are close to nature and they can enjoy what they are doing.

How do you determine what leisure is for you?

All you need to do is to ask yourself if you are performing a task or not. Let’s get back to gardening. If you are doing gardening like mowing the lawn and it feels like it is something you must do it is not leisure. If you plant flowerbeds because you love the flowers and it doesn’t feel like something you must do it is leisure.

Why is leisure important?

• It plays an important role in our well-being, our health
• It improves our self-importance
• It helps us to reduce stress
• It can improve our family time
• It can also improve factors like memory, sleeping and performance

What I do in my leisure time.

I jump on the red bus, doing “Hop On Hop Off Bus Tours” exploring the city.

As the tour stops at various places in and around the city I can do what I want to do and where I want to do it. At the same time I also get to know my city and I meet new friends. If I feel like joining a tour on one of the historical sites I can and if I feel like staying in a shopping mall, I do it. These kind of trips are not expensive, it is convenient and I do not have to do the driving. The kids also like riding on these open buses. Leisure is thus for me a stress free time away from home.

With my red bus ticket I get;

• A walking Tour
• An an official hop-On Hop-Off tour
• A comfortable and safe seat
• A a ticket valid for 3 "hops"
• A one day on the red bus

What I don’t do in my leisure time

I don’t visit theme parks! No ways!
--> I avoid those long queues
--> An adrenaline rush is not what I call leisure

In the end all that you must learn is to do what you like and to take advantage of leisure and the benefits thereof.
