Hi guys, I hope you all are doing great? Today I will be writing in this wonderful contest about Stress so get ready as we are about to explore What stress is, it's effects and how we can manage it. I invite @bossj23 @greyoliver and @inistar to participate in this contest.
WHAT IS STRESS
Stress is a state of worry or mental tension experienced as a result of emotional pressure or mental pressure.
When a person is under stress, the sympathetic nervous system is active. The sympathetic nervous system is the part of the nervous system that places the body in high alert and tension
It prepares the body for a flight-or-fight response .
When stress is experienced in small amounts or for a short period of time, it can provide benefits.
For example, a racer about to participate in a country level race will experience emotional pressure. This is the pressure to win . Under this pressure, the racer will practice and perform to the best of his ability. If he has enough pressure to stimulate the full breadth of his ability he can even win the race.
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO HANDLE STRESS
Handling stress can be quite tricky. When under prolonged stress , the majority of people tend to react negatively without thinking. Such negative reactions include:
1 Driving very fast in a car
2 Indulging in Over drinking
3 Taking Hard drugs
4 Aggressive actions such as screaming, hitting and throwing things e.t.c
These negative responses however complicate things not only for yourself but for others around you.
Positive ways to handle stress which I personally love are:
1 Deep breathing ( Chinese meditation)
2 Getting enough sleep
3 Walking in Nature
Other ways include engaging in light exercise and getting professional help and advice.
Deep breathing helps to open up air passages which become constricted as a result of short breaths associated with stress. It also activates the parasympathetic nervous system which is responsible for the relaxing process and shutting down the sympathetic system.
However long-term stress or chronic stress does not benefit the body ; it causes serious problems.
SYMPTOMS OF PROLONGED STRESS
If you experience any of the following symptoms, it could very well mean that you are under stress and need to take a break:
1 Frequent Headaches
2 Muscle Tension
3 Irritability
4 High blood pressure (Hypertension)
5 Sleeping Trouble
6 Shaking of the body
There are many more symptoms of stress but the above are very common.
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN STRESSED BEFORE
Yes, of course. I doubt there is anyone that has not been stressed before. If perhaps you have not, I must say you are quite lucky.
WHAT CAUSED OT AND WHAT DID YOU DO?
Well, it happened when I had to do much more work than usual and after all that I was criticized and not appreciated. It was really frustrating. What I did was to go out to a natural and airy environment and practice Chinese meditation. It really helped me to clear out all the negative emotions and regain calm.
CAN STRESS SOLVE LIFE'S CHALLENGES?
NO, absolutely not. Stress worsens challenges. If you stress yourself out to make money you can actually earn all the money in the world and end up dying without using it . What's the point in doing that?
The negative side effects of prolonged stress may not show up immediately but the can destroy a person's body slowly and render the person's life very difficult in the future.
MY ADVICE TO THOSE UNDER STRESS
Those under stress may heed this advice -: "Don't stress yourself. No matter what anyone says always make sure you set apart time to rest. Spend time with good friends and family. Treat yourself to a nice meal and say no to stress."
