One evening, she finished washing by the stream, when she was about to go home she saw someone floating on the water . At first she was frightened, but she made up her mind, to go see who the person was. She swam in the fast flowing water and got hold of the person, but to her greatest suprise it was the prince. She was surprised and scared . What might have happened to the prince, and why is he in the water, she thought to herself. She took him out and examined him to see if there is any wound, but she found none. She felt his heart beating slowly. She immediately jump to action, got some leaves and listed a fire, then, she called some villagers to help take the man to her hut , where he was placed near a fire.
Meanwhile, Ada's father chief Eze when he heard that the prince was gone, ascended the throne and Ada became the princess. She took complete hold of the kingdom, she treated people terribly, she insulted older ones who were not her peers and anytime she walked around the kingdom, everyone will be in fear. she will scatter the stalls of the market women, and she will tell anyone she meet on the way to kneel and follow her any where she went. She
locked up the borders of the kingdom and anyone who were hungry died. Life became miserable for the people.
After 5days , the prince regained consciousness , but he was weak. Tochi had gone to the market to get some food stuffs. The prince stood up, he realised it was not his palace , and the only thing he could remember was jumping into the river. He was alive and how could that be. The members of the the household who saw him wake were very happy and they sang happily and waited for Tochi's return . Some of the villagers had already ran to the market to inform Tochi that the stranger was alive, she was happy to hear that, she immediately dropped her basket and ran faster than every other person to meet the prince and see for herself.
When the prince heard that the the name of the person who saved him was by name Tochi, phe thought he was dreaming. He could not believe his eyes that Tochi was alive. When Tochi arrived, the prince thought he was seeing a ghost. Tochi ran and embraced him, she immediately prepared food for him. He thought about how he got to be there but Tochi did not give him the chance, she rather forced him to eat first. Tochi then narrated the whole ordeal to him, and he was also told about the death of the king, and the reign of chief Eze. She told him that he needed to stay for sometime and fully recover and also gain full knowledge of what is happening, and she will help him contact the slave trader's to give him some of his men and prepare for the fight against chief Eze and get back the kingdom.
On the first day, they set out, used a map and prepared possible routes to get into the village. On the second visit, they pitched their tents and got their ammunition ready in case they needed it. The next market day, Ada went to the market and carried out her wicked acts. She smashed the fruits of an old woman, she slapped her and spat on her face. She ordered her maids to scoop the dirty water and the blood that were slaughtered from animals, and pour on the people. She ordered them to kneel and crawl in the mud, while she walked on their backs.
As they reached the interior part of the market, they burst out prince Ebube and Tochi. when Ada saw them , he was shocked, she turned to run, but she fell off from the people's back she was on, into the mud. The slave captors men took her away to their hut. The villagers scampered for safety but the prince told them to remain calm. They broke into a song and let the way to the palace. When the villagers arrived at the palace, chief Eze ordered the guards to beat the people up, but prince Ebube's men held them back .
From the crowd, the prince burst forth and chief Eze was shocked to see him. He threw a spear at him, but it landed on his guards, he became furious. He smelt bad luck was on his way. He ran into his chamber, closed all the palace doors , and ordered his guards to keep watch and fight for him. He tried to escape through the narrow bush path at the end of his compound, but was surprised to see his captors waiting for him, he tried to run but he was not fast enough. He was over powered by his captors and taken into exile with his family. The prince took over the kingdom again and ruled. He also married Tochi and gave birth to a son named Osinachi. And they all lived happily.
