Steemit Engagement Challenge S5w2: My 3 Best Characters Vs My 3 worst Characters

Hello my steem friends!!

It's an another exciting week of Steemit engagement challenge season 5 and am so glad am here today. This week theme of the engagement is really a very interesting one, talking about 3 best characters and 3 worst characters. Seat tight as I talk about mine.

Introduction

---

The character of a person is very important. Infact the character of a person describes who a person is therefore character is as important as your name, because character is who you are.

---

Today, in the society, most of the issues we are having is as a result of character. Once you have a bad character or a good character, it must surely reflect in the way you deal or interact with others.

Characters are of two different forms:

• Inbuilt Characters
• Acquired characters

---

Inbuilt Characters are characters you were born with. Meaning these characters were inherited from your parents.

---

Acquired characters are characters you learn as you keep growing. You learn them by watching others around you display them.

---

Which ever form of character you are composed of, it is important to build the right character. Relearn the bad and learn good ones.

My 3 Best Characters

My 3 best characters for this contest theme are;

• Character of been Detailed
• Character of been loving and approachable
• Character of been persistent

Been Detailed

As I grew up I noticed that I love to be detailed.
To be detailed means always giving attention to things no matter how little it is. To be detailed also means to do things well after much observation, you can call it thoroughness.

As time went on in my life, when I see a movie or read a book and am asked to gist about the story from the book or movie, I do it differently. I do not leave any scene out, I tell the story as if I was an actor in the story. I didn't know these were some of the signs of been detailed, until when I gained admission to study in the university, a lecturer walked into my class and said he wants us to introduce our selves to him one after another. When it got to my turn, I talked and talked and the lecturer said to me "Ruth you are a very detailed student" I just smiled. When I got back home, I checked my dictionary for the word detailed.

My friends love to hear me gist them about incidents because they know it's more interesting hearing it from me. Aside the aspect of stories and all, in the house I know where things are meant to be kept or arranged. Back then at home, when my mum comes home with furniture or any kitchen stuff she would call for my assistant on where to fix it in the house.

I think my character of been detailed is partly an inbuilt Character and acquired character.

Been Loving and Approachable

Yes am not just loving but Approachable. Now let's look at what it means to be loving and approachable.

To be loving means to have a nature of expressing affection towards people. While to be approachable is to be so easy for people to talk to, no matter they issue they have.

Am I have a character of been loving and approachable. Things that ordinarily some one would not talk to other people about, I see people comfortably talk to me about it. After telling me they would say "I don't know why I feel so okey telling you about this and that"

One time, i remember an incident that happened with my neighbor. My neighbor at that time has 2 teenage daughters, I recall that the two daughters related to me as though I was an Aunty to them. One of them came to me one time to talk to me about having a boyfriend. After we finished talking and I gave her my opinion and not trying to condemn her, she was so happy and from then on, she was so free to tell me things about herself. Even her other sister followed suit.

Their mum came to me later to ask me what I did to her daughters, she said she can't get them to talk to her. She said she wondered how I got them talking to me, as she was talking, one of the daughter's heard her and replied "mum Aunty Ruth is so loving and approachable that's why we are free to tell her things". I felt bad for their mother but at the same time I was overwhelmed by the statement.

Been Persistent

The word persistent means Not to accept No for an answer. It means to continue doing something until it works. To persist can also mean a character of not giving up even in the midst of negativity.

I know been persistent is one of my best characters. Over the years I have seen my self determined to get something done even when it seem like it won't work, I have continued in it until I got a result.

Failure does not scare me! As long as I know that what am doing is the right thing, I won't give up. I remember the earlier times I joined Steemit and till now, there are times when I won't get support from the big guys, I even had people around me power down and left saying that Steemit was not working. I didn't give up, I persisted knowing that one day I would smile.

The character of been persistent has really helped me achieve somethings that ordinarily I would not have achieved.

Would you advice others to display them

---

Yes I would advise others to display my 3 best characters. For instance in our society, I would want people to become persistent in their goals and vision because I have noticed that our generation want things to be done fast. And if it's not fast then they are out. And this character has lead them to alot of things that are not nice like fraudulent practices just to survive.

Imagine if everyone becomes loving and approachable? The world will really become a better place for all of us. There will be no need for hate, gossip or competition amongst friends, siblings or cities, tribe or nation.

Been Detailed while help us avoid some havoc like road accidents and all because, car drivers will not leave their house without properly checking their cars to know if it's in order and those Crossing the road or plying the road would be careful enough. Been Detailed goes along way and cuts across every sector of life.

3 worst characters that I sometime Display

• Character of been sarcastic
• Character of been weak-willed
• Character of been Rigid.

Been Sarcastic

The word sarcastic means to use words to mock a person or express displeasure. It also means to mock by laughing.

Yes sometimes I see myself display the character of been sarcastic, especially when I warned you not to take an action and toy went on to do it then it turns out bad. I could go on and on to make mockery of you with my words and laughter. Sometimes I don't even care how you feel until I have achieved my aim.

Been weak-willed

To be week-willed means to be convinced easily. It also means to be indecisive.

Yes sometimes I display this character. I am easily convinced which has lead me into some troubles in the past. Sometimes I would not even know what to do at a particular time, I just need to consult some person's before I know what to do.

Been Rigid

To be rigid means to stick to one thing no matter what.

Yea I can be rigid about some matters especially my believes or stuff about my upbringing. Even when I try not to, I still find my self in that space.

Would you like to stop them? What effort have you been making towards stopping them

Hmm this is very serious I must say. Yes I would like to stop my 3 worst characters especially the character of been week-willed. Even though I love been sarcastic but I know dip down that it's not good. Been Rigid has caused me so much so I would like to stop it.

Lately I have been making some effort to stop been sarcastic, rigid and week-willed. Infact sometimes, when someone Is trying to convince me, I don't accept immediately or give my response. Instead I tell the person to speak to me some other time, enabling me to make more research on what he or she is saying to me before I give my response.

Another effort am making to stop my bad characters is that am more patience with people now, even though I give them my opinion or advice and they didn't take it and things gets worse I try to understand that they don't owe me anything so why mock them? Am also praying more for myself to change.

Am really grateful for this contest theme this week so I appreciate the organizes of the contest because it has given us an opportunity to address the need for a good character and the need to do away with the bad characters. No one is without a bad character but with constant work and understanding we will all be fine.
