📣 Attention, dear readers! Welcome to the colorful cultures of Pakistan, the place where we meet interesting traditions and discover the chamber of this amazing country. You are going to find out some rather gross and perverted traditions, and then consider if these are actually important in today’s world, and finally, learn about the circumstances in which certain practices may be perfectly fine. So, boil the water and make a cup of chai and let us begin this amazing journey side by side! 🌙

🤲 Must Know: Belief in All Traditions?

Pakistan, being culturally diverse, possesses various traditions for different areas and or ethnic groups of the country. But it is essential to respect them let it be noted that everyone has his or her own discretion to follow or not to follow traditions. Some cultures people might find interesting and impressive while for others, they seem out-dated or just ridiculous.

🤢 3 Disgusting Practices We Don’t Need in Modern Day

There are some unpleasant features in the culture of the state where the single most important facet believes in is freedom. Here are three gruesome and disgusting traditions of Pakistan that we would love to see vanish:

  1. Suttee (Sati)
Despite it was outlawed by the British in 1829 and later in India and Pakistan this gruesome tradition still survives in the psyche of some individuals. The tradition of setting a widow alight on her husband’s pile of wood, was quite inhuman; it does not deserve any nice name. Just the idea is terrifying, and we do assert it is about time that this tradition was dug up, buried and left in the dark.

  2. Baldness as Punishment
In some of the little villages in Pakistan the people still hold the primitive belief that if one steals or is accused of, say, adultery one’s head should be shaved. This cruel practice is usually done by the members of the victim’s family or the local authorities. This brutal and disgraceful act is unnecessary and only portrays the worse part of our society.

  1. Karo-Kari
A fixated, repulsive tradition that runs across the rural areas of Pakistan is the honour killing of lovers who cannot marry because of their status or caste. This is a criminal act and deserves condemnation by anyone, with regard to respect for human life and dignity.

🔍 Are Traditions Still Regarded in such high regard?

Needless to say, the majority of people in Pakistan is very attached to customs and traditions A,S for the younger generation, the approach to them seems to be more critical. Some of the social facts which are reasons behind the blunting of these primitive usages are urbanization, globalization, and education. However, referring to the defined traditions, one should state that traditions continue to be an important determinant of the identity of our nation and the coherence of the communities.

😼 When Is A Tradition Just More Than Celebration?

In Pakistan some age-old customs have become sine qua non in order to make some events legally enforceable. For instance:

  1. Engagement ceremony (Mehndi) – Mehndi generally, occurs before the wedding but generally begins three days before the wedding. This ritual involves use of henna design in hands and feet of the bride as a sign of luck and beauty. This tradition is obligatory for every married woman in Pakistan.

  1. Walima – Walima is the second wedding ceremony of the Muslin wedding and is performed subsequent to the Nikkah. This is a ceremony that is organised by the groom for his newlywed wife together with family members, friends and the society at large to present to them the marital set up. And while reception can be understood as an acknowledgement of the marriage it is an important stage to make this marriage legal.

  2. Nikkah – Nikkah is an Islamic marriage ceremony, where the bride and the groom express their consent in front of a gathering to get married. Another function of the event is the signing of the marriage contract and fixing the dowry. This is a very important ceremony as it makes both of them legally married in the sight of Islamic Sharia law.

✨ Pakistani Tradition We Love

Among countless festivities, ceremonies, and other practices occurring in Pakistani culture, no other rite can be considered as beautiful and essential as the Basant festival. Basant Festival is a freshers party that is held early that is in February or March, the atmosphere of happy kite flying, delicious food the colorful kites which are dressed basically and the kites up in the sky. But starting 2008 the practice was stopped due to a lot of flying kite near electric wires which lead to many deaths. However, many a Pakistani today can well recall the wonderful days of this fabulous festival and we only hope to witness its reoccurrence in a less dangerous form.

Conclusion

As much as we have explored Pakistan traditions we believe that we have ignited interest in Pakistani culture and heritage. It is also important to keep some traditions in front of their modern equivalent but not leave all traditions behind as well. We are great in traditions and the thought is to build a society that will accept our culture and throw away everything that is not very pleasant in our history. That’s the spirit, My dear friend and ever so polite!!! Here’s to a bright future for Pakistan and traditions Here’s to a bright future for Pakistan, tradition, progress and development! 🎉🇵🇰
