Contest Alert: What I would do better if I can travel back in time.

  • What are the things you think you should have done better?

Hello Steemians! I hope the post meets you well. This contest had created an opportunity for me to express myself on what I'd do if given chance to correct my mistakes.
Growing up to become a a science student in high school, it has always been a dream to be a medical doctor; just like most of the science students then. Everyone wanted to be a medical doctor but our teachers then would tell us not everyone would be a medical doctor. They might have been right, because looking at mates now, there's a testament of their words; they have all ended up where they were not expecting, of course in a positive sense. But I feel, if I had added more effort, I could have ended up in another medical field if not medicine and surgery.
I feel I should have gotten the right information back then to boost my zeal for a medical career. Lack or little to no information on what I desired limited my exposure and knowledge before and after getting into the university.
Putting effort to know more about what I planned to go for might have helped me to a great length.
I should have reached out to people who knew more about the whole ordeal and should not have taken it with levity.

  • How long did it take for you to realize that you lost the privilege to do something better and how did you feel?

I would not say I lost the privilege to do something better because there is a saying which goes ‘if there's life, there's hope’. As long as you are still breathing, you have the chance to try out what you want. I'd rather say I missed the perfect time to do the right thing; and that was weeks after my first year in the university.
Few weeks after my first year, which was during the school break, I realized there could have been a chance for me to switch to a course in the medical field. It was still early and seemed to be like another opportunity then. I was pained and the fact that I was already back home and could not carry out the process also left me a feeling of annoyance.
But it doesn't matter, as I mentioned earlier, it is not too late. Seeing older people as students in the health science departments gives me some sort of motivation to go further.

  • My advice to readers.

Fellow steemians and readers, my little piece of advice to people is that whatever you plan on embarking on, it is important to have the right information about it. Either you have an initial idea about it or not, I would advise you to have its thorough knowledge; it is not safe to assume you know everything. And it is not necessarily on education alone, it could be on jobs, program, health or anything.
Also I would advise to take chances sometimes if you won't be suffering any loss from it.
For instance, I, even after being aware of the fact that I could possibly have a change of course, a bit of hesitant and doubt had prevented me from giving the process a trial. You could imagine my feeling when I heard that some of my course mates successfully transferred through the same process.
