A BRIEF INTRODUCTION THAT TELLS US ABOUT YOUR COUNTRY

Cameroon is found in central Africa bounded to North by Tchad, south by Gabon, Equatorial quatorial Guinea and Congo, to the east by Central Africa Republic. and west by Nigeria. Cameroon is one of the African countries that were under the influence of the Colonial masters with first being Germany, then France and Britain in 1884. Cameroon is a richly blessed country and is often known as "Africa in miniature" because of its geographical and cultural diversity throughout the country.

The Central African country has one of the highest literacy rates on the continent, but its economic progress has been hampered by corruption and decades of authoritarian rule.

Created in 1961 by the unification of a British and a French colony, the modern state of Cameroon has also struggled to find peace and unity.

WHAT ARE THE GREAT THINGS THAT INTEREST YOU ABOUT YOUR COUNTRY?

There are so many things that interests me in my country but I will be talking about four of them 👇👇👇👇.

1. RELIGION

Cameroon is a country which permits its citizens to a freedom of worship. There exists has numerous religions which include Christianity (about 69%), Islam (about 21%), and many other indigenous religions including the traditional beliefs. Judging from the numerous religions, citizens are free to practice any religion they choose, without any form of harassment or trouble from anyone. The northern part of Cameroon is mostly made up of the Fulani also known as the Mbororo people are Muslims, because Islam is the dominant religion in the northern region. In the western region, there is another segment of the Muslim community called the Bamum people, an ethnic group that also practices the Islamic religion. The French-speaking people are often inhabitants of the southern and western regions and the majority of them are known to be Catholic, while English speaking citizens of the west tend to be Protestants.

2. FASHION

Cameroon has a wide variety of fashion which the people prestigiously adhere to. In terms of fashion in the country, each region has its style of fashion and culture which the people respect. Notable Cameroonian articles of clothing include: Pagnes, a Sarongs worn by Cameroon women, Chechia, a traditional hat, Kwa, a male handbag and Gandura is traditional male custom attire. Wrappers and loincloths are used extensively by both women and men but their use varies by region with influences from Fulani styles more present in the north and Igbo and Yoruba styles in the south and west. See samples of some fashion attires of Cameroon include the following

3. CULTURE AND TRADITIONS

In general, Cameroon is rich with a mass/wide crossroads of art and African culture of more than two hundred ethnic groups that make the rich artistic and cultural heritage of Cameroon. Pygmies, Bantu, Sudanese, Arab-Berber, and others make up this extraordinary explosion of population, each bringing its traditions, its art, music. The languages spoken in these areas include the Akoose, the Gbaya, the Fula, the Meta, the Gyele, the Koonzime, the Mundang, the Ngiemboon, and the Vengo, Ewondo, Bassa, Beti, Bamelike, Munghakah, Ngemba languages and Arabic
Cameroon is divided into 10 regions, which are dominated by specific ethnic or religious groups. The Ethnic divisions often correspond to geography, which is also widely varied. Due to colonialism, there exist no national culture and so the culture of the people relates to their village of origin. Some traditions include
The "Ngondo" is a ritual celebration of the peoples of the coast, with a mixture of magic, dance, costume and canoe race. The pictures below shows a typical traditional enthronement of a chief in Mankon village with eyhe population dressed in dried plantain leaves to welcome their chief

4. CAMEROONIAN FOOD OR CUISINE

Cameroon is blessed with a wide range of food as per the variety of ethnic groups in the country. Cameroonian food is one of the most varied in Africa due to Cameroon’s location on the crossroads between the north, west, and center of the continent. This brings in tourists into the area who want to have taste of our food. Some of the food includes;

• Fufu corn and njama njama (garden huckle berry leaves)

• Sangah (a mixture of soft maize with cassava leaf, and palm nut juice)

WHICH OF THE THINGS MENTIONED ABOVE DO YOU PREFER YOUR COUNTRY FOR, OVER OTHER COUNTRIES?

Everything I have listed above I love which include the religion system, customs and tradition which makes us learn from the varied customs in the area, the fashion and the food. My best is the fashion and food as it brings out the beauty and uniqueness of every part of the country.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME: IF YOU EVENTUALLY LEAVE YOUR COUNTRY IN SEARCH OF GREENER PASTURES, WOULD YOU BE WILLING TO COME BACK BECAUSE OF YOUR RESPONSE IN (3).

It has always been my dream to travel out of the country but not to stay forever but to return to my country and establish myself. The things attracting me is the peace of staying at home despite the troubles here and there I still feel drawn to my country no matter what. Also the fashion, custom and tradition bring me back so I can continue enjoying everything from the source. I am a great problem when it comes to food and so being familiar with the food of my country I don’t want to miss it for any reason.

CONCLUSION

In general HOME IS HOME NO MATTER WHERE YOU GO TO you will always want to come back. There is that peace you feel among your people and the love you share is unique reason why people who go out for greener pastures always think of their homeland and return to reconnect.
